Last year we started on July 26th so it is about that time. Are you volunteering? What time of year do we normally do the Jets prospect ranking threads?
“His growth has been significant over the last few years,” one former AHL coach told The Hockey News via text. “He’s ready for full-time duty in the NHL. In the AHL, he controlled the pace of the game and was very impactful on a game-to-game track.”
However, Heinola is far from a defensive liability. He posted the 11th-fewest expected goals against per 60 minutes at even strength among AHL blueliners, according to InStat.
“He is sturdier and better committed to the defensive side of the game than most young, mobile, puck-moving defensemen,” said the former AHL coach.
One NHL scout pointed out that Heinola possesses plenty of positive defensive attributes.
“He closes gaps quickly – he’s competitive,” the scout told The Hockey News. “Despite being a lighter body, he’s efficient in how he checks.”
I agree about Lucius. He's had a really bad run of injuries going back to his draft year, but when he's played he's shown a lot of skill. He plays a strong C game and isn't just on the perimeter. Jets' former super scout Max Giese is really high on Lucius. If he stays healthy, he could be a good one.I think people are low on Lucuis because of his injury issues and I can understand that
BUT
He did start on the Moose and put up 5 points in 12 games to start the season. When he ended up at the World Juniors I thought outside that top line he was there best forward. The replays of the games I just watched a week or so ago he was everywhere on the ice and the puck just followed him around(that old saying in hockey really means he knows where to be so the puck gets to him). He then went to Portland and absolutely started to tear it up with 15 points in 6 games and was at or near Bedard level of dominance.
If you take those smaller sample sizes he was going to have quite a year and likely we would be talking non stop about having a top 10 center prospect.
HOWEVER
He does need to play a full year now. He should get a ton of opportunity on the Moose this year and I am hoping he can go a PPG at that level.

I think Ceulemans would be fine, but I still prefer Lucius' upside. If he can be an effective 2C, or a high-end 3C, I'll take that over Ceulemans' profile. It all boils down to whether Lucius can get and stay healthy, I suppose. When he was drafted, I wanted Ceulemans. I would still trade them 1 for 1. But not because of his play. How can you not be impressed? Now it is just about his injury history. I'm afraid he is brittle. If he can stay healthy, we got a steal there - and he can play C.
The talent is undoubtedly there. Three major season-ending injuries all dating back to his draft year are a concern. He hasn't really had a full healthy season since his D-1 year. Damn shame about his latest injury cause he had a really good World Juniors and then was really tearing up the WHL. I hope he can stay healthy, I'm looking forward to a good AHL season from him.I think people are low on Lucuis because of his injury issues and I can understand that

Mitch Brown has an encouraging article about Lambert, noting substantial improvements in his off-puck play and the diversity of how he generates offense and uses teammates.
The tracking results reflect his high performance in the WHL.

Seems to match what I've seen. He's a big time transition player but isn't really elite in terms of scoring or creating grade A chances. Given who else we have in terms of prospects he will bring some skills that will compliment some of our other forwards.
