DD's North Bay up 3 games to 2. Looks like he's keeping the team in some games where they've been dominated in shot totals, but perhaps not stealing any wins in this series.

@SpezzaNoLookDropPass have you managed to catch any games?
He’s been solid. Mostly fluke-type goals beating him. Had one in game 4 bounce off of a forwards visor and in. Another one last night went in as a Barrie forward crashed into him. Goaltender interference called but the goal counted????
Things go well for us when DDV doesn’t have to be our best player.

Thanks for the update!

This has probably been posted but good lord the skill on Lambert. Maybe he somehow doesn't transition to nhl but there's not a single person that can say he was a bad pick at that spot after watching this.

Have to wonder WTH they were doing to suppress this kid in Finland? OK, maybe he couldn't translate that skill against men in Liiga, but what about their WJC teams?

I love Lambert as a prospect but I'll play Devil's advocate

There were way too many plays there that won't translate to playing against men. How many times did he beat a guy 1-1 at his own blueline? Try that at the NHL level and it's a turnover and you're picking the puck out of your net

He's going to need to learn how to use his teammates in many of those situations.

His skill is undeniable and what he's doing in junior vs inferior competition is tantalizing but his game still needs to evolve for him to be able to use those skills effectively as a contributor in the NHL

I agree, many of these moves won't fly at the NHL level, which he'll realize. I think Laine went through the same thing as well, thought he could stick handle around everyone. That being said I doubt there are many players near where he was picked that have a highlight reel like that. I don't follow the lower levels much, but I'd be surprised if more than a handful of guys in the first round have a highlight reel like that.

You do know the majority of teams are filled with 18/19/20 year olds right. It isn't like these are some bantam aged kids he is doing against.

No one suggests that McDavid couldn't do what he did against "Men" because he was the OHL. How about Bedard? Is he going to fail too.

He did this against his peers in a league that plays a very similar game on the same ice size as the NHL. It is a very good indicator of future success. Now granted it isn't a guarantee, but if you go down the line at top end 1st round level talent and the numbers they put up in the CHL the success rate is very high.

Absolutely - but you can say much the same about a McDavid or a Bedard too. Every skill player has to go through that transition. At the same time, all of the less skill oriented players learn how to counter his kind of moves too. That's how they make it to the NHL.

Nic Petan had 1.8 ppg in his D+1 season in the WHL and Lambert is putting up just under 1.5. Some players translate better to the pro game than others, which is my entire point

I remember Copp coming out of Michigan and the word on him was that he was 'pro-ready". I take that to mean playing the way that he will have to at the pro level already in college.

It's not like Lambert has developed some new skills that are making him effective in the WHL that he didn't have in the AHL or Liga (although confidence is important).

I didn't rate Petan as a 1st round talent not in the same level as a Lambert. Especially with the physical flaws that he had. When you look at a player and you wonder what they need to do to be successful at the NHL level, Petan already had something that he couldn't overcome, size. How does he overcome that? Speed, skill and Hockey IQ. He wasn't especially fast so his limitations come up more and more. Want a comparison? Logan Stankoven. Will Stankoven translate to the NHL?

What is going to limit Lambert? Not his size. Nor his speed. Nor his skill. He has 3 things already checked off in spades. His Hockey IQ was called into question but I got to tell you from what I seen I think he does just fine especially play a pro style game in a NHL style rink. Maybe his ego is fragile and that might indeed limit him going forward but maturity can sometimes fix that. He checks off a lot of things to be successful in the NHL. He reminds me a lot of a poor mans McDavid and that isn't bad at all

There were plenty of plays on that montage that weren't "pro style" and that won't work at the pro level. He'll have go learn to cut them out and make the right play. That's all I'm saying

The way he handles the puck made me think of P. Kane. I'm no expert on Kane, mostly just seeing him against the Jets. Anyone else see that?

You could say the same thing about many of the Bedard goals this season.

I think most realize that you have to take junior results with a grain of salt, but also realize that there is strong tangible skills that the kid has over and above his same age counterparts that will work in the NHL. Speed, handles, shot are all excellent. And his passing is decent as well.

Playing at a level that allows Brad to hold the puck and be creative provides opportunity to develop his skills further while gaining confidence in it. This is something that has been void in his development thus far.

There will always be a reigning it in period when a top junior jumps to the NHL level, and Brad will be no different, but I want his coming in with full confidence of his skillset,

Also, in regards to your comment on relying on his teammates, keep in mind this footage is just a highlight real of Brads standout rushes. There were plenty of excellent assists Brad made this season not shown on this footage. He had 21 assists in 26 games.

The difference between Bedard and Lambert is that the whole reason he was down there was because he wasn't having success vs grown men. Then all of a sudden he has success vs lesser competition... I just see it as a potential red flag

I'm one of Lambert's biggest fans on here (I was advocating for him on the opening roster ffs). But I'm just trying to be objective

Hopefully at the very least he's got some swagger back and he can take the steps needed to become a true impact player. We all agree the tools are there

Players do get sent back many times, which is not necessarily red flags.

Scheif was sent back 2 years in a row, Ehlers once. I would put more stock in how they perform after being sent down rather than why they were sent down.

I would see it as a much bigger red flag had he gone down to Seattle and played average or did not stand out.

I think Brad skipped a part of his development playing in Europe that he is now getting with Seattle.
