This game started to get me excited about having PLD on our team. Even though a goose egg for points I thought he played really well and made a number of nice, little plays. Points will come for him.

The more I watch Appleton play, the more I like him.

Any chance at getting Stastny for 2 more years at 3.75 or 4m per year year??
Stastny has been playing some of his best hockey in years. And Appleton is just so impressive. He looks like such a big , effective 2 way player right now.

The Jets were getting used to starting a game at 8 or 9pm , hence the horse shit first period. :naughty: I want the Jets to play a complete game too but we won 5-1 by only playing 2 periods, look out when we play 3 . We have new lines, new players and a weird schedule to contend with, we will be fine.

That first period was causal to a spike in my systolic blood pressure secondary to a sharp rise in circulating plasma catecholamines derived from acute adrenal medullary-mediated sympathetic dump (and concomitant b1 and a1 receptor activation in my myocardium and peripheral vasculature, respectively). I heeded the plaintive wailing of my smart watch and carried out breathing exercises to relieve excessive arterial afterload. I thought to myself:

Horrific game. We are not going anywhere this year it seems to me.

Scheifele had the lowest icetime of all 4 Centers on the team. 4th line C Mark Scheifele.

Senators were full value for their shots, esp in the first two periods.
This is impressively negative lol. I mean I'm pessimistic, but wow.

Senators were dominant in the first, 2nd/3rd were much more even and we just have eons more talent than them.

Some thoughts:

-pretty poor effort all around. Lucky it was only Ottawa

-Hellebuyck was amazing. He seems to be trending up

-Appleton was great

-Beaulieu and Forbort were both catastrophes

-PLD completely invisible except for a bad penalty

-Connor also invisible

-Pionk’s goal was sick

-Poolman looked alright. Should probably be in over Beaulieu

-Perreault looks rejuvenated

-I’ll take the two points, gotta clean up their play on Saturday though
Forbort was too slow time to try Samberg.

Stanley is a really smart player and a great passer. He’s really cool and collected back there. He’s already better than several ahead of him in the pecking order.
Poolman with a really nice first game back.
We need steadying influences back there.
One more needed, and his name might be Dylan Samberg.

Can someone please explain if we lose years of control over Samberg if he plays more than 7 games at the NHL level this season. I understand that he is different than Heinola’s situation due to his age ?

Lots of forward talent on this team and it was good to see them adjust after that horrible first period.
I’m not sure we’re missing Patrik Laine all that much.
But Roslovic on the other hand, producing like a #1 center. 2 more goals tonight.
I just hate that we let a talented young center go.
It's early. Some guys need a change of scenery to shine. I can say with almost 100 per cent certainty that we'll be far better off with PLD than Roso (and I'm not even sure where Laine will be in a couple of years).

PLD should have about five assists by now. I'd like to see him shoot more, though.

Funny to think what had happened if Maurice would try Roslovic extensively as a 2C for example when Little went down.
I seem to recall that Roso had at least as many chances as a Jet in a second line role (with better wingers) as he has had currently with Columbus. When players shine in other organizations, it could be for a variety of reasons. Some players can't handle some coaching systems.

Speaking of that, you can really tell that PLD came from a Tortorella-coached team... he's easily the best positioned center defensively on our team.

Yes, but that will happen over the course of a season. Better that it happen against Ottawa.

Couldn't agree more.

The comment was more in relation to the quote I quoted in my post about his ice time.

When he's on he can skate through an entire team and carry his linemates around the ice. When he's off he gives up the puck in areas of the ice that can be very problematic.

I'm fine with that trade off as Ehlers is on far more than he's off.

I missed the game how did Dubois play?

I thought he played well. You can see he is getting more comfortable in a different system and there were times where you saw him controlling the puck more and driving the play. He is really, really, skilled in tight spaced. Once he gets his rhythm down this two headed beast of him & 55 will be a fun combo.

Dubois didn't get any points last night. His line also seemed a bit off sync. Otherwise they played okay
in periods 2 and 3
However, Dubois got the Jets going.
He used his speed to get into Ottawa's d zone and pressured the goalie.
I appreciate his hockey skills. I am a fan.

he was also parked right on Murray totally blocking his view on DeMelo’s (Ehlers) Goal.

Or perhaps they are Jets fans....

;)
you would be surprised as to the amount of Jets' merch i see in Toronto.
#2 after Leafs. but, as said by another poster, i'd suggest the most merch you're seeing is for the Raptors. it's still a mindless hockey town, but basketball's real strong here. i expect Jays' Fever to start up soon.

I'm still not happy that Laine and Roslovic don't play for us any more.
Laine and Roslovic got drafted by the Jets and would be nice to have seen them
play for us a few more years.

Sure Roslovic is playing at home, is getting prime playing opportunity, and is running with it.
He could have lived in Columbus and played for us the rest of the year.
Same for Laine.

Sour grapes I guess but I'll be glad when things don't go so smoothly for their team.

Go Jets Go

then go follow the Blue Jackets and stop whinging on here.

I know there is a big following of the Jets in East & West Perth in Southern Ontario, because I have extended family there. They say the Jets are very popular; most don't cheer for the Leafs or Sens.

My Uncle owned a feed company and had life long season tickets, rarely went, was for clients. I don't think he was necessarily a Leaf fan - he was a fan of his business, My aunt, his children and grandchildren. God bless him.

We can always shorten Beyak to "Yak".

We'll be fine I think.

I hope so.
No slight intended to Ottawa as they are young.
A bad start like that or periods off won’t go well with games against Leafs,Oilers or Habs likely.
