And you would expect to see better numbers from Helle - expectations are not that he play "out of his mind".
He needs to be part of the discussion if we are going to discuss team needs / issues

If it had been Comrie in those three games for some reason, playing exactly as Hellebuyck has, the "Chevy get some NHL-calibre backup goaltending right now" thread would be 20 pages long. The team definitely seems to lack a killer instinct though. Maybe it's a function of having so much talent evenly spread around the team ... there isn't anyone who feels compelled or even entitled to take charge (excepting 26).

I think it was Kaprizov who kicked Stanley's skates out there following him along the boards. Even with all the penalties they did call, there were still multiple that didn't get called that directly led to goals against.
The officiating is something else, the nhl should add another ref on the ice if they're not going to add a coaches challenge for blatant penalties like slashes, slewfooting, headshots etc that directly result in goals.
Krapieceoff playing dirty with the bs and getting away with it...

Boys played better in some respects and worse in others.

The team reminds me of a hard to start built v8... once they get going they're going to be monstrous.

The only way we get a new coach and ultimately become a better team is if Helly doesn’t play well. He was masking the problems which prevents the team from getting any further ahead.

This exactly, it was said a lot over the last 2 seasons.
Not sure why Maurice needs to be defended.
It’s past due for a change and if it doesn’t happen we’re still all Jets fans albeit frustrated ones.
Maurice will continue to run his bench with what he is comfortable with even though it doesn’t work.

Waste of another evening. Hopefully Kaprizov gets at least a game for his elbow on Stanley. One game closer to the end of Maurice though at least! :)

The squeaky wheel gets the grease & you're the only one to even comment on this.

How does anyone 5'10" elbow a 6'7" player in the jaw?

Totally intentionally, a clear attempt to injure & the very action that set up the shit show of cheap shots that followed from both sides.

Crickets from fans hence crickets from the league.

Now back to 16 pages bashing Maurice...

Yup, I’m surprised it wasn’t a major but even more surprised no one is talking about it. Even the commentators seemed to gloss over it. It was nice to see PLD take a run at him after but because our PK sucks it wasn’t really that advised.

PLD is the only guy that will mix it up in the top-6. Ehlers can be feisty at times but i always cringe when he's involved. i was watching a bit of the Wings game, and top 6 guys like Larkin or Bertuzzi (or formerly Mantha) def mix it up & play with some bite. We're missing that. Laine would do a bit (surprisingly within the league leaders in points he ranked pretty high in hits). but we have little to no bite or edge from our top6ers.

PAUL MAURICE'S LUGGAGE
Hellebuyck has an .856 save percentage for these first three games. Accordingly, it’s reasonable to conclude that we must fire Maurice lol.

if that is your takeaway from the game, yeesh.

seemingly, the only person, who is posting the attempted (illogical) argument that you showed, is you as you try to mock opinions and other people for what they did not say while resorting to using a strawman. fallacies o plenty from you on this board.

If Helle puts up league average goaltending, the Jets are what 2-1? Maybe 3-0?

My boy Wheeler doesn't f**k around with empty nets

At no point during that game did I think to myself "Boy, I really miss Wheeler out there."

If Copp is going to play top 6 it would be nice if he played a little bigger and with more edge. Just don’t think it’s who he is though, unfortunately.

As bad as that was, they still had the lead with very little time remaining. They still should have won in regulation... especially when you consider they had a two goal lead with five minutes remaining. The off-side on the empty netter stings, but it's a red herring. It should never have come down to that anyways.
That's why I still say we are missing that go to guy who can grab the team by the throat and lead the way. If we had Buff he would have put the team on his back and got us through the end of that game. No one on this roster seems to be able to do that.

Chevy has always been fond of the “it’s a process” phrase. Has always been a message to look more on how things are developing and not to focus everything on results, as they aren’t always the best indicator in the short term. At some point the “process” has to start netting results however. I think it’s reasonable for fans to expect that should happen this year and of the coach can’t get those results, it’s time for someone else to give it a shot.

Just a general opinion, not based on the last 3 games, but time’s ticking.

On a positive note, loved Connors game (even with the offside which I blame 55 on).
Good to see PLD score, I've mostly really liked him this season so far.
Copp with an absolute nipe - if he does that with any consistency this year he is gonna get PAID

I often wonder how much faith Chevy actually has in Maurice at this point. I think Chipman is the bigger issue in him sticking around. It seems both Chevy and Moe have been at odds the past few years and finally Chevy didn't give him his plugs this year and instead of playing the kids enough in the bottom 6 and on special teams he's doubling down on riding his vets into the ground...

They clearly look on different t pages to me.

i don't think so either. i am not saying our players are soft. like copp and connor for instance don't play soft games. they'll battle, go into corners. but we've seen plenty of times our guys getting run at or cheap shots with no response. nice to see PLD do something.
