Well guys you can look at it with a positive spin: the quicker we lose too many games, the sooner we get that coaching change.

Me personally I'm not gonna draw any conclusions until we played at least 10-12 games.

Pretty much how I'm looking at it.

Although suddenly my hot take is feeling quite lukewarm.

7 straight losses…. When the Thrashers got swept in the playoffs they proceeded to start next year 0-6 which got Bob Hartley canned. People won’t agree with it nor believe it, but we are going to be getting close to seeing the end of Maurice real quick at this rate.
Honestly, if we lose our home opener there will be a lot of pressure on TN to dump Maurice. I’ll believe it when I see it, but everyone’s patience, including casual fans’, is wearing thin with him.

We only dressed 11 forwards but yet one of them had only 6 min in ice time .. also what was the point of taking out a forward and then giving the seventh D only four minutes? Not that I’m clamouring for more Beaulieu, but why even run 7 D if you’re still gonna give half of the rest of your D 23 min.+ ?

Refereeing would be something to discuss if we hadn't seen this type of thing play itself out time and again.

All I see is that the Jets have a horribly unorganized defensive setup, they don't know how to protect leads, and they sat back and let the Wild shell them.

We've seen it before, we'll see it again.

The Wild deserve to feel good about this comeback because they put in the work and made it happen. We should feel ashamed because we let our division rival walk all over us when it mattered.
Yup. The Wild got all the bounces … blah blah blah.. it’s the same thing with this team all the time. Bounces or not. Bad refs or not. The constant is always the same with the Jets. Terrible defensive setup (like you said), mental mistakes and all-in-all, a lack of heart.

This loss didn’t even bother me much because I’m finding it harder to care for this team considering it’s been the same crap for years now.

I’m still a fan, but it’s hard to get so invested in a team like this.

Agreed. It’s quite obvious that this team lacks overall team defence and consistent effort by our so-called stars. Hearing people blame the officials and bad luck bad bounces is so Toronto Maple Leafs fan esk. We get out chanced every game it seems and most nights get outshot. It’s time to shake this team up with a coaching change.

I've given up. He should have been gone the season after the conference final where the team looked terrible all season with the exact same lineup imo.
Yep he’s now into his third year that he should’ve been gone for. I’ve always maintained he should’ve been let go after the way they embarrassed themselves against the Blues. But they gave him another chance and now look where we are

Last thing from me tonight, it’s funny what a couple of games can do to change perspectives.

I was calling out the Jets for sucking shit against the Ducks, and I was ensured it was just one game, Gibson stole it, that we looked amazing and would win way more than lose. Two games later and it’s death to Maurice and the team is fundamentally broken

We need to cultivate a winning mentality, it is early season and our team is obviously not gelled yet, however we did more than enough for the 2 points and found a way to lose. Paul and the team has to put together 3 wins in a row, or else maybe its time for a new voice in the room to inspire the boys

Yeah, agree. If we lose the home opener and it puts us 0-1-3 with an 0-2 vs the Ducks... oh boy. There is no way to talk it up pretty for PoMo honestly.

Haha same here. I was saying the same thing after the first game and I honestly believed in it. The Sharks game was quite a shock to me ESPECIALLY after going up 2-0. Now we lost to another team that will probably not even be a playoff team while having multiple leads. This case seems to start solidifying - there is something wrong here. It might have been a case of getting outgoalied for the first period in Anaheim - sure. It was not by some kind of random luck that we outshot them like 21-8 or so over that first period. We absolutely dominated the Ducks that period and looked scary only to be denied by one of the better goalies in this league.... But since like the second half of the game against the Ducks? No, I don't think there is any excuses to be maid. It's actually pretty sobering.

Thanks, I am usually quite laidback and so rely on the people in my life who have more sensitive thermostats to let me know when things are going south. Thankfully on HFBoards there seems to be a few of those. :)

Yeah, I won't say I have been a staunch defender of Maurice and his tactics. The amount of times I have seen Wheeler and Chef come over the boards at the end of games when I believe Lowry at even 75% is the better option are too many to count. This instance amongst others that people have mentioned (i.e. the love affair with the Booloo types as compared with the young talent) are distractions and frustrations which can be shrugged off when there is success; but that success has been lacking.

Like you, I appreciate what Chevy did this summer and was filled with a lot of hope and expectation and so that has taken a hit with these last games. All I know for sure is that Maurice has had excuses on paper on why his seasons did not end successfully since 2017-2018. There definitely are no excuses on paper for him this season. So I hope he can make the most of what he is given (because I would love to see it) but I totally understand the calls for something new.

Nicely said. You, sir, will live well into healthy old age, barring any lightning strikes, tsunamis, or poor golf games.

I think.....

Hm.. what I mean to say is....

Obscure Systems, low ice time rewarding excellent players, a great rookie forward cut for impossible logic, nervous players cocooning hard in the 3rd, cuckoldry rampant in HF boards, the shaky stocks, North Korean relevancy, dumping of "purified" nuclear coolant waste water into the Pacific, the brooding risk of civil war in the US coupled with two-party tribalism, Russian submarine incursions into sovereign Canadian Northwest passage waters, the high price of denuded beef at Costco, problems with my HID lights on my old Rubicon, the burgeoning supernova in NGC 7814 (nice edge-on galaxy), growing unrest and elephant-in-the-room among the dark matter theorists (MACHOS vs WIMPs) may somehow be related to...

Just watched the 3rd period after reading 6 pages of the PTG. That offside is totally on Scheifele. No need to make that move at the blue line when nobody was within 15 feet of him. Glad I didn’t watch this live, I would totally have lost my sh*t. So damned frustrating.

14 goals allowed in 3 games.

Hellebuyck sure shouldn't get off easy. He lost his angles, and his rebound control is atrocious. Most of the goals against him were either directly or indirectly his fault. In other words, the "good" Hellebuyck wouldn't have let in more than two last night. Sure, he is making some great circus saves, but he never used to have to make those kinds of saves. He's using his athletic ability to try and make up for all his technical mistakes. You know who used to do that game in and game out? Ondrej Pavelec.

I can barely muster up any thoughts as my “give a damn” is broken. My only hope is that it only gets WORSE so there can be a glimmer of hope that a coaching change is on the horizon. Who am I kidding? We all know that’s not going to happen. TNSE is happy to achieve below average results on a capped out team. They’re proud to say they’re loyal to their employees. More like loyal to a loser mentality.

Ducks nearly beat the Oilers last night. Mark my words, that team will beat the Jets again.
