Bowness seems like a good person. That’s one of the top two criteria for Chevy/Chipman. Neither of which have much to do with winning.

Bowness instead of Trotz. A bit like Forbort instead of Buff.

If nothing this would atleast be a good test of the old "An unstoppable force meets an immovable object" saying. A coach who pays more attention to defense than his own wife vs a group of players that haven't played much defense for the last few years.

I don't think he holds back young players who are performing well. I think he's a bit reluctant to put them in if there's another veteran option.

Also this was Heiskanen's 4th year in the NHL. It's not like he's a rookie anymore.

He was still the best player on their cup run in his second season. I don't think our prospects have much to worry about if they show up ready to play.

I agree. I'm speaking to the group that has suggested we just play the prospects to get them some game time and experience - I don't think Bowness will play youth just for youth's sake. I think he will if they give him a reason.

I do also think Heinola will be given every chance this year. Dillon might move, but I actually think Dillon is a type of d-man who might look better under Bowness.

Same as with Trotz. I thought we wanted more attention to defence.

Prefer to set the bar higher than Tocchet or Lowry. Apparently Monty didn’t even get a second interview 🫠

They sure as heck had a hard time scoring last year. They seem fairly middling offensively. Gone are the days of peak Wheeler, Scheifele feeding Laine on the PP. Mushy middle at best.
Would much rather have seen Monty here for sure

But we can’t be sure that he was not more interested being here than he was Boston

Well, who knows. Maybe we catch lightning a bottle here, you just never know who works with whom.

And please let's not keep going on about getting Trotz next year, or anytime. It sounds like someone hoping their hot girlfriend from high school will come back. lol.

Hey I’m still hopeful we get that girl!

Regardless of Bowness’s reputation of being a hard ass my concern is it won’t matter to this group who didn’t listen to Maurice or Lowry.
Maurice got no where motivating these guys so I’m interested to see if TNSE moves the malcontents because they certainly most know who they are.
If the team remains essentially the same and we don’t improve then that’s on TNSE not on Bowness

So the Jets hired a coach who for many was not on the radar definitely not mine. Not sure how I feel about this but he is the coach of the Jets so I will support this decision, well I will support this decision until the first week of the season :naughty:. It's been many year since you coached Jets 1.0 and even more since you played for the team, anyways .....................

We’ll see what happens. Any new coach deserves a chance to prove himself.

I’m just a) so glad this is finally done and b) so glad we’ll have an actually competent defensive mind behind the bench.

Go Jets Go!

For people that are upset.. why? What specifically? He was incredibly successful in Dallas..
Incredibly successful?!

While his team made the COVID playoffs and went to the Stanley Cup finals this was after a 4 or 5 month layoff. Do you think the team is that fortunate without the long layoff?

They failed to make the playoff last year. They were the 15th best team this season and went out in the first round. The series against the Flames only went as long as it did is due to Oettinger standing on his head, not because Bowness put on an exemplary display of coaching.

He is a better choice than Tocchet, but that is a low bar to rise above.
