Just reading Rangers board, and there are lots of comments on how the Jet's heritage jersey is nice and should be our main jersey.

Of course they like them. They look like a Rangers uniform. I thought I was watching an inter-squad scrimmage last night. BTW, that goalie on their blue squad? f***, I think he needs some more seasoning in the minors to work on his puck handling. :sarcasm:

LOL! Thought the same thing, Rangers home and away uniforms on the same ice.

Jets team leadership really lacking, Wheeler bristling at fair questions in the presser once again.

Do the Jets have any guys who can man up and give an honest explanation after a game? Kinda like Copp though, when he's asked a question he always gives a fair and honest answer, unlike grumpy Wheeler!

I missed the early parts of the 3rd and 2nd. From what I saw though the ice wasn't particularly tilted one way. Jets had a fair share of possession and shots. Appears we met a hot goalie and an opportunistic team. Almost every Jet recorded a shot on net, and some dangerous ones too. Led by Laine (7) Ehlers (6) and Connor, Wheeler and Roslovic (4 each). Almost...Shore, Shaw, and Harkins did not have a shot between them.

I saw the replay of the (yet another) puck-handling mishap. Seems we've never had a goaltender who was particularly good at handling the puck; I often wish they didn't even try. I recall an NHL commentator asking another, 'How many goaltenders are actually good at handling the puck?'. The other guy responded, 'Not many, and they aren't as good as they think they are'.

Sadly, I didn't even finish watching the game. When it was 4-0 and the Jets defence/Hellebuyck were playing like dog vomit anyways, I turned to watch the end of the Westminster Dog show where this poodle monstrosity won. There was a beautiful Golden Retriever named Daniel that SHOULD have won, the crowd was going nuts for it. Seriously, was one of the nicest pups you will ever see.

Daniel:

Canine topiary should be banned as an offense against nature. Dog shows should not be rewarding this. Let a dog look like a dog, not someone's art project.

Montoya's probably the best puck handling goalie to play here. He was decent.

I've never seen a goalie improve their puck handling skills much here. They seem to either have it or not when they come here and that's what you can expect forever. They must not work on it much.

Hellebuyck seems to have a goal against from mishandling the puck once every 10 games or so...that's just the eye test estimate, so I may be deceived by some cognitive bias here (maybe it's not that bad). But dammit, it happens too much!

In the previous game (or one before that, I'm not sure) there was an occasion that PP1 was on ice so that Ehlers replaced Wheeler. That looked immediately so much better than with Wheeler. Puck was moving both sides and the PP was much less predictable.

The final PP when Wheeler was out getting his head checked? I'm sorry we saw a different PP. It was not good. They played catch on the right wall, and the puck left the zone 3 times without a shot on net. My 80 year old dad even commented on how bad it was and rarely says anything. Granted they don't play in the that config much but 'instantly better' it was definitely not.

Both PP units need work. Period.

Fergey was GM for both clubs and had a say in what the teams looked like, so it only makes sense there were some cross over similarities.

Gets pretty humid in other seasons though, no? We rented a place there for 2 weeks and there was black mold all over the place -- manager said the A/C had been off for a stretch, and that's what you get when the A/C is off for a stretch... Ya picks your poison, though some poisons feel poisonier than others. At least WPG won't fall into the sea, I guess.
I would litterally take anything other than the shitty Danish 5 seasons in a day during the summer months.

And perpetual grey and darkness during the winter.

plus, when the sea level rises, this place will be the first to go

Well, I don't know if it happens more with our goaltenders than others. It certainly appears so, because it doesn't seem we benefit from gaffes in the games we watch, as often as we are the victims. Could just be observation bias.

I was at the game last night and saw something I'd never seen before. I have a good view of Chipman during the games. He's always sitting alone in his box watching every game. Yesterday in the 3rd when they were down 2-0 I saw him with his head down on the table in front of him, something I'd never seen before. When he finally put it back up, the Rangers went up 3-0. Then he got up and started pacing, which I'd never seen him do either. He kept walking back and forth until the Rangers went up 4-0 and at that moment he left angrily and didn't return. There was 11 minutes left in the game. I'd never seen him leave early before in my 9 years of attending games. Guess Chipman's at a loss too. Not a good sign.

No, Helle, no. Get back in net. Don't touch the puck. Fudge, fudge, fudge....oh fudge, come on. Really?!

Me. Every game. Every time Helle leaves his net to handle the puck.

The score was never 2-1 or 3-1 and the Rangers didn't score to go up 4-1 ever they scored to go up 4-0 a few minutes into the 3rd.

Exactly...if there's any opposition player within 50 feet, I get pretty worried.

Seems like a lot of miscommunication between Hellebuyck and the D...a few games ago when Bitetto yelled at him to play it and then skated straight towards him giving him no lane in which to play the puck forward didn't seem helpful either.

I wonder if Scheifele is having a year like Laine did last year. Something doesn't look right with him and I'm wondering if he is playing hurt like Patrik did last season. He looks lethargic and simply disinterested. The scary part is that is how he looked for a good portion of the back half last season as well.

I don't think he's physically injured. Emotionally may be another story. I think it all comes back to something that happened mid-season last year. His body language at the end of season media interviews spoke volumes.

That's it! Someone got Chipman out of his chair! Look out now...

Well, I suppose it might also have been some bad shrimp at the buffet table.

Best part of last night was seeing my beer league goalie, who is a massive Hendrik Lunquist fan, on TSN cheering when he was put in at the end of the second, and then booing when he was taken out at the beginning of the third.

He was positive he wouldn't see his favorite player play last night, but ended up getting 5 mins of action.

Kulikov and Bourque were a disaster last night and if Bourque is near the ice when Perreault gets back, I might hop on the fire Maurice train. Dude is below the AHL level, impossible to believe we do not have a better option that that to put in to the lineup. Lipon would add more than that stiff.
