No, Helle, no. Get back in net. Don't touch the puck. Fudge, fudge, fudge....oh fudge, come on. Really?!

Me. Every game. Every time Helle leaves his net to handle the puck.
It's very hard to play the puck with all that equipment on , so many things can go wrong easy , you could trip and fall miss play the puck etc. . The problem is i think Helly actually thinks he's good at it , someone needs to tell him he's not . Nothing wrong with being crap at playing the puck if you are good at stopping pucks like he is , just concentrate on that not going out of your net .

Why is Ehlers immune from criticism, seems to be a pattern with Ehlers, great player up until the Christmas break and kinda disappears when the NHL tightens up after the break and in the PO’s. Can also say that he is consistently inconsistent.

Pre-Christmas: 37 games, 28 pts. .76 pts per game.
Post-Christmas: 21 games, 16 pts. .76 pts per game.

Just came off of a 5 game point streak. He's playing well, making some nice primary assists. Scored the only goal last night.

Bottom line, KC produces with his chances, Ehlers doesn’t! Ehlers had a better game than he has been having in the last 15 games, do agree Ehlers would be an improvement over PP time hog Wheeler who has become ineffective on the PP #1 and more of a liability.

Bottom line, Sip has access to other stats than the rest of us!

They have (and have had for years) very similar production rate.
IF you really want to look for differences, Ehlers may shoot 10% more (shots/60) and Connor may convert on 10% more (SH%) (according to naturalstattrick.com), but the end production rate is exactly the same.

My guess is Ehlers takes more shots from further out, while Connor finishes more in close. They are both elite finishers.

YES and NO

Ehlers got lucky last night with a shot that would have been 2 feet wide of the net! Connor buries most of his chances, Ehlers rarely gets in good enough scoring position to score! Big Big difference!

Oh well, with Mo extended don't think Ehlers is here long!

You just see what you want to see, I think. Recency bias, player bias, leads to lazy analysis. Pattern is that it takes about 2 games for a player not to score and then we see the old, tired schtick of 'Oh is player X playing?', and 'Player X can't score anymore!' posts in the GDT.

Ehlers is playing good hockey. Could be better, sure. But so can everyone.

I was at the game last night and saw something I'd never seen before. I have a good view of Chipman during the games. He's always sitting alone in his box watching every game. Yesterday in the 3rd when they were down 2-1 I saw him with his head down on the table in front of him, something I'd never seen before. When he finally put it back up, the Rangers went up 3-1. Then he got up and started pacing, which I'd never seen him do either. He kept walking back and forth until the Rangers went up 4-1 and at that moment he left angrily and didn't return. There was 11 minutes left in the game. I'd never seen him leave early before in my 9 years of attending games. Guess Chipman's at a loss too. Not a good sign.

I'm pretty sure he was thinking "why did I just extend this coach"

Jets PP formation is like a ritualistic candle placement of a satanistic floor pentagram. Nicely symmetric, and predictable.

4 PK clerics is pretty much all you need and enough for cutting bloodlines between each candles, only a movement of few feet is sufficient for interrupting the ritual.

Worst of it is that the ritual has been performed largely unchanged already a while without any remarkable revisions to the codex.

Hah, I like the analogy. Indeed, the PP is super predictable and it's annoying how long changing it is taking. That said, we have overhauled the 5v5 systems so thats good. Hopefully the PP is next.

We cannot afford to have any weak sauce if we want to make any kind of splash.

Mo got an extention. I hope he earns it because it's quite clear where this is going if we don't start experimenting with some new stuff.

Wheeler should QB the 2nd PP IMO. I would suggest double-shifting Laine but his snipe is off, so there is no point.

We have 1 stale PP unit for 90% of PP shifts. It might be beneficial to the team to at least try something else.

Just reading Rangers board, and there are lots of comments on how the Jet's heritage jersey is nice and should be our main jersey.

I agree with them.

I know some people think that these jerseys look alike, but, honestly, the darker blue and the different stripes on the pants make both jerseys distinct enough for me.

2 games? It's one period lately.

Ehlers is one of the most consistent guys the Jets have. Game in and game out he simply creates zone exits and zone entries. He plays loop-de-loop in the offensive zone and gets pucks to the net. It's the guys around him who fluctuate in their performances. When his linemates are on Nik gets points and gets the tangible reward. When his teammates are off he is an island unto himself and there are maybe 5 guys in the league who can still put up consistent numbers in that situation. Connor is putting up points and I love me some KFC, but one of the reasons he gets some of the looks he has is that goaltenders and defense have to respect Scheif and Laine a lot more than they have to respect Wheels and Apples on Ehler's line. That being said, I am not in any way diminishing the production of Connor. That kid is the real deal, as is Ehlers. The Jets and Jet's fans are incredibly lucky to have two dynamic guys like this to watch night in and night out. Adding Laine in when he finally decides to go 6'5" beast mode (as his body fills out) is a treat to experience.

let's not take everything posted in a GDT as gospel. lot of the times it's reactionary and the highest order of recency bias.

Really people are on Ehlers? The dude who gets everything without the luxury of playing on the top line or getting a reasonable amount of PP icetime? This is why our coach sucks. He can't manage a team on the ice. He just hammers the shit out the top few guys. The guys who keep his job nice and secure, he did in Carolina he does it here. Why else would certain star players love playing for him?

I'd be amazed if Ehlers liked PoMo as a coach. But you never know these guys are indoctrinated into the hockey hierarchy very young.
