Could try a bit more in-game tinkering to possibly switch things up and get things going in an elimination game.
Ya, one thing I thought maybe move MP or Laine on top line to mix it up. Lowry line took step back this series no doubt, maybe hurt. Tanev should've been a scratch. Couldn't get any secondary scoring which is too bad cause we have depth. Maybe Ehlers was sick a while. Who knows.

Guys ran outve gas. Just looked mentally and physically spent. Playing two hard series may have caught up to them. Maybe some injuries? No excuses, but they looked tired. Great season, what a run! Thx boys!
4-1 Minnesota? Hard? Without Suter. I think not.

Coaching was not an issue from the Jets side this series. Other than the decision to play Hendricks in those couple of games against the Preds, Maurice was fine.

Good post Jet'sFan-- I heard the Jet's executive took away the Pawn Shop discounts for some of the "young guys." This may have really pissed them off, and they decided not to play hard. It's the little things that help you win.;)

Had a good time following the Jets this season
It’s too bad how it ended but still overall successful season and better than expected
We have a great team for the future and have few players will can sign under the salary cap before more success puts us over the top

Loved the season... hated this series.

Some quick thoughts, for the future...

Overall, I think the Jets were just plain worn out in this series. I think the Nashville series took a lot out of their key players. That shouldn't be a huge surprise. We knew that the Central was going to beat up on the winner.

Hellebuyck made huge strides this season, but he played like he was worn out as this season wore on. He'll be fine, but the Jets need to find a back-up that can take more of the load in the regular season.

The Jets need a few more players that play in the hard areas, especially in the front of the net. They had very little net-front presence. That's why I think a player like Lemieux is going to get a long look next pre-season.

The Jets lack quickness and mobility on D. Maurice stayed far too long with Chiarot, when he had Morrow ready to go. They need another really quick D. I advocated for going after Schmidt... that's the sort of D we need. I think it's Niku time. Play him all season and get him ready for the playoffs. Either that, or go out and get another D with good mobility. Myers' lack of quickness in skating and puck movement was exposed. He doesn't belong on the PP.

Laine needs to do a lot of work on his quickness and fitness. As the series went on, he looked more and more behind the play. This off-season he should work on his skating and fitness, and maybe trim down just a bit.

Ehlers was very disappointing. I think he was running on fumes in this series. He's always better when he's rested and has some fresh legs. I think he also needs to work on conditioning.

I loved the Stastny acquisition, but he is not the C the Jets need for the future. He just doesn't have that extra gear to open up space. Little outplayed him in the Vegas series. In fact, Little was a bit of bright spot.

Buff was clearly fatigued as the series wore on. I think Maurice used him and Myers too much earlier in the playoffs. Trouba needed more minutes throughout the playoffs. He seems to thrive on it.

Connor was a real bright spot for me. He's become a tenacious player, with outstanding quickness and skill. Really impressed.

Roslovic should have been playing earlier. He is dynamite. If he can play C, I'd line to see him with Ehlers and Laine next season. He's a real keeper.

Scheifele emerged as a real star. Just an outstanding performance.

Wheeler looked pretty gassed as this series went on. I am kind of tired with hearing "Wheeler shoots, and it's wide, the Jets need to regroup in their own zone". Still, kudos for an outstanding season.

Morrissey had a great and gritty playoff. He's very skilled, but also a real gamer. Love his game.

Lowry was not nearly as effective as I expected, but I also think he was battling a significant injury.

I think Copp should have stayed in the line-up over Tanev. Tanev's goals early in the playoffs were nice, but expecting him to be a different player than he is was false hope. The Jets need more offensive punch in the bottom 6.

Perreault is an enigma. He does many things well, but he just doesn't produce enough when it's needed. I would definitely keep him next season for another run, but I don't think the Jets can afford to keep him in the longer term.

As always keeping it straight Whileee, but a few of our Finnish friends might take you to task on the Laine fitness post, was a lot of back and forth about this in the Laine thread.

Jets beat by a better team with better coaching, goal tending and more speed.

Questionable coaching decisions all series.

Weak bottom six.

Couple top players all but disappeared in the playoffs!

See you boys at draft time!

Jets need to make sure that this was not a 1 year thing, they have to make the playoffs next year or this season was all for nothing, that being said I do expect changes, nothing major but this team is lacking in a couple of area's, best of luck to our hired gun and if Toby decides to either retire or move on thanks for playing with this franchise as long as youdid.

Because we went far beyond what anyone expected at the start of the season? No shame making the final 4.

Well said Bogo -- everyone was wondering if we'd make the playoffs --and we not only did that --we finished in the Top 4 teams in the NHL. Of those top 4 teams, I think we could beat at least 2 of them -- so the team has come a long way.

I have been saying all along that this Vegas team is sharp, and very underrated--but the Jet's gave them a good fight. Fleury is saving at 94- 95 % --pretty tough to beat.

Proud to be a Jet's Fan. :thumbu: --have a good summer Bogo --now get out and cut the lawn

When a team wins four straight they are the better team. And don't assume we were the only team with injuries.
Vegas might be the quickest and best passing team I have seen. The jets and every other team are going to have to study them hard in the off season.
The Jets had a great season and will get better. Meanwhile, let the beautiful summer begin my friends!

It can't be both coaching AND top players disappearing. The coaching was fine.

In 17 games, Nik Ehlers produced no goal. Scheifele and Wheeler shut down after Game 1. All three were chokers.

In all likelihood you will probably see a different Vegas team next year, they have a lot of decision's to make in the off season and will keep the core , but what a problem to have if they win the Stanley Cup.

Jets simply ran out of steam. Helly had to play way to many games during the regular season because Mason was always hurt. He simply was too tired at the end. The rest of the team had to play too much due to the injuries we had during the regular season. Chevy has to figure out a solution for the back up goal keeper. I am not sure we can count on Mason to stay healthy. Playing Helly 66 games during the regular season is a formula for failure in the post season. I don't think Comrie is good enough to be the backup. Now we can look forward to seeing how Chevy deals with all the free agents and what our team will look like in the fall. Go Jets Go!

Nah I don't think that was the issue - goalies can handle playing every night, as they are not sprinting up and down the ice for most of the game. Now if he was playing injured that of course is a different issue entirely.

I think the actual problem was everyone else having nothing left in the tank and the resulting scrambly play in front of him. How many times were the Jets chasing the puck in their own end, over-committing with multiple skaters checking one Vegas player, only to have a pass fed to the late trailer with an open path to the net? Happened more times than I can count, and by sheer numbers some of those are going to go in. For a goaltender I imagine those plays are stressful, and when you get beat on a few your confidence starts to go down. Hellebuyck will be fine.

Disappointed in the outcome of course, however I can't complain about this season at all - the Jets play a fast, high scoring, exciting style of hockey, and firmly established that they have what it takes to play with the big boys. I was hoping for a series win, which we achieved, and then some!

Here's to next year!

The series was fixed, the calls where called in favour of Vegas. Bettman payed the refs to have Vegas win. But their winning streak is short lived, they will hit a wall in the finals against either Tampa or Washington

I feel like I’ve watched the exact same game for the last week(the past 3 games)... I’m a little disappointed Maurice didn’t change anything in the Top 6 and left the Little line with all small players. Honestly that 1 goal lead felt bigger than a 4 goal lead, I felt going into every third period that we didn’t have a damn chance, just such a boring slum of the past three games...
