Kaner can't get away from the media asking the hard questions, trying to dig deeper to find the answers. Pretty much the only way to make it stop is to just stop doing things worth asking about buddy

Or he could clearly say that he won't talk about and move on but he is still giving noncommittal, ambiguous answers that only lead to more questions.

For a guy who's happy to be out of the fishbowl he sure likes the spotlight.

Yes. A third line player who over 2011-15:

Scores 0.89 5v5 goals per 60 mins, avg 1st liner scores 0.84, 2nd line 0.75, 3rd 0.59.

Scores 1.85 5v5 points per 60 mins, avg 1st, 2nd, and 3rd liner goes 2.03, 1.73, and 1.42.

I think .89 is supposed to be .96 or maybe I read the wrong number.

He doesn't look so rosy 2013 -2015.
0.77 5v5 goals per 60 mins and 1.51 5v5 points per 60 mins

Shouldn't his numbers start picking up with his age and experience?

No one is above the team. It took some time for Chevy to get a good deal that worked for him. 3rd liner or 1st liner that trade request (over what?) is reason enough to get him out of town. We'll see how much Buffalo fans like him.

He craves attention, doing everything he can to get it, then drops a "fish bowl" comment.

Self important loser who has lost all benefit of the doubt. I hope he continues his ****acular career trajectory.

As much as Kane had off ice issues, his on ice performance was great. He made others on his line better. I think he lights it up with McEichel next year. I'm calling it now, barring injury, he gets over 30 goals.

Nothing against Buffalo, I hope they don't go top two so he doesn't get paid with someone carrying his stupid ass

Yeah, Bogo handled it well with something to the effect of "out of respect for those guys, I'm going to keep that in the room." and it was done.

Yeah, the way he takes ridiculous shots from every angle, and rarely passes, except blindly, really makes his teammates look better. Kane plays hard, which I love, but he's so over rated it's not even funny.

That being said if he has McEichel to set him up continuously next year, I think he will do well. But he can't do anything on his own, he doesn't have the skillset or mindset.

And you're comically underrating him, so lets just say he's accurately rated?

He is good, but not star good.

He's fast, plays hard, physical, great shot. Which I love.

But he's selfish, shoots from stupid angles, has no other move than skate up the boards, blindly passes the rare time he does pass, can't create his own shot or scoring opportunity and has low hockey IQ.

Everyone always posts stats how he's scored so many goals at a young age and compare him to other elite scorers, he's not. If you actually watch him play, he doesn't have that elite scorer touch.

Not to mention with how physical he is, he may always have injury issues following him.

It is true.

I was not the least bit offended by anything he said. Don't get the smugness or attitude stuff either. Thought he handled it well.

To be exact, it is not true.
Town has a definition, in Manitoba its between 1000-7500 people.

I thought he referred to Winnipeg as a town intentionally because he thinks of it as very small.

I love the "very small town" comment.

He is a legend in his own mind.

Hence the self proclaimed nickname "the natural"

Remember the last time the Jets were in Toronto?

Why did Winnipeg Jets head coach Paul Maurice make Evander Kane a healthy scratch against Toronto on Saturday night? Well, to help run him out of town, of course; but was there a more practical and specific reason?

“The player’s individual play, other players’ play — somebody else takes their job for that night... adherence to all policies of the hockey club,†Maurice said, via the Winnipeg Sun. “This situation with Evander Kane has been addressed three times. He’s not the only one. I have dealt with it directly and clearly with the team and player.â€

So reading between the lines there would appear to be some violation of a “policy of the hockey club†at play here.

I'm gonna miss Kane as a jet. I thought he played well this year given his injuries and he seemed more of a team player than before.

I don't share the sentiment shared by some of you on here, it's just a shame he didn't want anything to do with the Jets because he could have been a real star in the peg had he just embraced the club and the fans.

He never truly did that.

Oh well. I'm just excited to see the jets battle in the position they're in this season.

We will have ehlers and petan and morissey and hellebyuck to watch in the future....mixed with trouba and scheif, it's going to be an exciting mix of youth and younger vets like little.

I'm gonna miss him for what he brought our team, but I'm gonna be butt hurt over him leaving. Who cares. All I care about is our team. Can't wait for the jets to transform into a yearly contender and really change perceptions around the league

Imagine being in his shoes though, warts and all. He received a lot of criticism and some really unfortunate and questionable rumours went his way. He has a lot of Twitter and Instagram followers and many jets fans didn't like him, who knows what kind of harassment he received. When he first came to Winnipeg he was excited - I remember his Twitter going off about that. But somewhere along the way things just didn't pan out. He's history as a jet now. Let's focus on our future, I hope he matures in Buffalo.

Relative to where he grew up and relative to Atlanta and relative to the NHL cities in general, Winnipeg is small. I don't think he literally meant it's a "town" but rather in slang way. He still have credit to it being a "huge hockey market". And yeah it can be a bit of a fishbowl, aren't any Canadian markets? Toronto is a huge city but it can still feel like a fishbowl to some players no doubt.

The people of Winnipeg wanted nothing more than to embrace Kane and make him a rockstar. Even with all of his obvious character flaws, all he had to do was pretend he liked it in Winnipeg and he would have had the whole city and all of Jets nation eating out of his hand from Day 1.

Glad he stayed true to his immature and entitled self and pouted his way out of town (having his teammates turn on him along the way). The people in Winnipeg deserve a better person to idolize.

Kaner will be kaner. If we can resign stafford that would be great, he is not that much of a drop off to be honest. He plays a jets style of game, reminds me of a bigger Bryan little.

Kane's right. Winnipeg is the biggest small town in NA.

It's the biggest "small town" with an excellent ballet company, symphony orchestra, theater scene, music scene (including major concerts and festivals), art scene, etc.

It also has excellent restaurants.

Seriously, if you go to any equivalent-sized city in the US you'd find almost nothing in the way of cultural development or diversity.

If you want the big night-club scene, it's not your place. So maybe it isn't popular with some NHL hockey players that are into that.

The weather is crappy, no way around that.

It focuses way too much attention on hockey. Better that than NASCAR racing, though.

This is odd, especially the last paragraph.

How well he scores is how well he scores. The fact that he takes lots of bad and good shots is part of the reason why he scores well. Other players do it differently. Kane isn't the only one. Kane's shot distributions are similar to Nash and Hornqvist. Not everyone is Tanguay or Perreault and only shoots at the perfect moment.

There is a saying: there is more than one way to skin a cat. Just because it isn't your preferred method doesn't mean that the end results are different than what they were.

Kane did score goals at a first line pace.
Kane's linemates did pick up more points on average with him than without.

Those are facts.

What you are discussing is Kane's playstyle. If you want, you could argue that Kane would be MORE effective if he took your advice. Even that is debatable, as quantity is more controllable than quality in the NHL level. That doesn't change how effective he was.
