Hockey is a team sport, about systems - the obsession with individual players, as though you can plug-and-play anyone into any lineup and any locker room, belongs in another sport. One reason the Jets are good is that Winnipeg isn’t an attractive enough market for a showoff big-market GM to be able to constantly mess things up by bringing new players in, so the players we have get a chance to play together for years on end and eventually turn into a great team. That’s my working theory, anyway. Just don’t mess with success by bringing in useless “deadline acquisitions”.
