i do think it's clear though that all these prospect thumpers on here, and those clamoring for arniel to play the youth or some ridiculous "youth movement" really need a reality check.

I think 12-1 IS the reality check for both the "chibs over appleton" prospect thumpers AND the "we can't win with Schief and Connor on the top line" Statsnerds

We saw it against Colorado. Scheif and Connor were getting completely hemmed into their own zone against both of the Avalanche top lines. In order to milk out that win Arniel had to shuffle line combinations to make all his lines defensively better, which he did. This is something that both Bones and PoMo hesitated greatly to do within games. I agree that the team on most nights needs Scheif and KFC on the same line, and their numbers should be better than they have ever been if Arnie is willing to do what he did in the last game where they were getting caved in.

Schief and Connor won their matchups in the first two periods. Why don't you focus on that?

I bet you and a half dozen other posters have been eagerly awaiting that ONE PERIOD in a 13-1 streak where a slight adjustment needed to be made. The funny thing is that I knew it was coming, but I had another poster in my mind for who would say it lol

Even ESV won't beat Mackinnon's line long term. Or McDavids line. Or Matthews' line.

We don't think have the top end talent to win like those teams. We win through depth, team defense, good goaltending and (hopefully) special teams

Agreed. The whole team was fine the first half of the game. Colorado's top 5 just has another gear that really no other team in the league can match. We don't have that level of talent and 99% of the rest of the league doesn't either.

But the Avs are very thin on depth and have had piss poor goaltending, as we've seen this year one elite 5 man group can't often make up that difference.

I was on that bus after the loss to Avs, but Fla is a balanced roster with no "superstars " (imho) so it can be done.

Interesting, you don't consider Barkov a superstar? He's a top 5 center for me. Reinhardt has also stepped into that category for me.

What I meant by my post is that when Scheif and Connor were getting caved in by the Avs top two lines (2nd and 3rd) we saw Arniel pull out the blender and that is a good thing. When things aren't working, he is willing to make adjustments to try and get things to stabilize.

That is a good thing. I also think that for the majority of time, Scheif and Connor should absolutely be played together. I'm not in the camp of "split them up", but I am in the camp of the coach changing things up within a single game to stabilize and preserve a lead like Arniel did yesterday.

I'd line the break up Tkachuk vs Connor which Connor still loses as I think Tkachuk is their best winger.

Tho I do agree Florida would be favourites in a playoff matchup. The Jets top forwards can't compare with Barkov's 2-way play or Tkatchuk's dirtiness.

If people think a good team can dominate another good for 60 minutes its time to wake up.
Jets could have been up 3-0 after the first and Avs could have scored 3-4 goals in the third.
Could have .... should have ... who cares the Jets got the win. If you noticed what the Avs were doing was they knew the Jets made quick passes so they were guarding the outlet passes ... why do you think a couple times the Jets were able to skate right in just by holding onto the puck. Jets need another good puck carrying defenseman. Also to slow down a fast skating team you have to take the body and finish the checks .... Jets only had 10 hits.
This is the first game that the Jets were outplayed and they won so that's not too bad. 14 games and you have 2 bad games ... I'll take that anytime.
