This team is so damn frustrating. We'll still make the playoffs because the division is crap, but I'll be blown away if they win a round.

Cup contenders one night, mediocre team that loses to rebuilding teams the next.

This, although I'd consider trading Stepan for an upgrade at center.

That just creates more problems at 2nd C. Miller isn't the answer for at least a few years.

I'm not trading Step for anything that's not a stupid overpayment. He played a great game today, too.

Lundqvist isn't off limits to me.

McD, Step, Kreids, and Nash are off limits.

Why would a guy who is overpaid not be off limits? For the right return, I'd certainly move Nash. He still has plenty of time at $7.8 million a year. For a couple hundred thousand more we can get a top-10 forward in the league.

If I'm Sather, I'm listening to every offer outside of McDonagh. Same with Stepan. He's a 2nd line center. Can we move him for the right return? You bet. And it doesn't have to be an overpayment, just fair value.

This offseason I was excited to see BRassard and Moore take the next step.

Brassard has not.
Moore has not.

Dorsett is really good on the 4th line, when he is not taking dumb penalties.

Gaborik needed to be traded but with each passing game I question whether or not we got the right pieces back. At the time it seemed like we did. We're the New York Blue Jackets.

I don't see the logic in perusing a player like Brassard, whom I know the NYR have been after for years, only to import the loser coach whom he had issues with in the past to coach him here in NY? Ok it's all behind them, but why? Scott Arniel shouldn't be doing the laundry for this team let alone be assistant coach.

I still say Laviolette was the guy to get. Better than Torts and AV imo. good balance of fire and poise. I'm not that impressed with AV so far.

Ugh we're full of Columbus trash...

“@AGrossRecord: Best moment: AV is asked about Brassard's "brainless" pass and Vigneault doesn't react to that, just says go talk to Brassard.”

1C > 2C

In 99% of scenarios Stepan shouldnt be moved, though.

If players cared as much as we all do, you'd see a much different team out there.

Easy to say that watching from a couch. I don't buy any merch, and I hardly ever go to games unless they're free tickets; The extent of my caring about this team extends to whining on a message board and getting pissed off when they lose. These players have sacrificed everything to make it to the NHL.

They're a mediocre team.

Why is Arniel being criticized? He's doing his job and making the PP respectable.

I agree. If he keeps this up he shouldn't be traded. Somehow his confidence is flying high lately.

really? maybe going up the ice, but in his own zone he's still the same boob i've watched for years now. He's terrible at defense. Look no further than his partner in crime Girardi...

Oh well.

This bunch of idiots need to learn how to play without a great goalie. Maybe then they'll find consistency.

It has to be considered.

What kind of player would Hank bring in return?

If he were to bring a legitimate game breaker that has a good 7 to 8 years left, it's a move that has to be considered.

Can always sign caretaker goaltenders that can do a decent job, especially if there's a threat to score 4 or 5 a night.

This is the worst possible scenario. Mediocre team that gets your hopes up with some games like the Canucks game then break your heart. They'll get a mediocre pick. I can understand a team sucking, I can understand them being mediocre, but it just pisses me off to no end that the team just didn't show up. Robbed hard working NYers of their money. I almost went to this game and threw my money away.

I questioned Arniel the moment I heard it.

It seems like an unnecessary risk.

Much easier to say when you spend $6,000 on season tickets year after year.

If Stepan is a 2nd line center he's a damn good one. One I'd like to keep. Again, no interest in trading for anything short of a stupid overpayment. Trading Stepan for fair value is trading just to make a trade.

Nash has been playing great and is signed long term. I don't see a reason to let him go unless we go full rebuild.

I'd need severe overpayments for Lundqvist, McDonagh, Stepan, Kreider. But anyone should be available for the right deal.

He was fine in his own end, did a good job carrying it out of the zone. Which goals were his fault?

i just don't see the logic in him being here, what with the past history with Brassard and the NYR wanting him for so long. I just doesn't make sense.

I'm not ignoring the slightly improved PP, I just can't see that as a compelling reason to bring in the former head coach from one of Hockey's most embarrassingly bad franchises...
