you know, off camera he could be the splitting image of John Tortorella. just because he's "OK" on camera doesn't mean ****.

You're right, but for some reason I just don't think that is the case.

lul!- good offensive instinct is picking ur **** head up and picking a corner... MDZ will never ever be a offensive defenseman

no he won't. he sucks at defense. i'd try him out as a forward, but honestly it maybe to late. I doubt we can even move him now...

Wow, you showed me with your logic.

I'm actually not a big DZ fan at all, just defending him against some of the garbage being posted on this board.

You proved a lot, thanks for this post.

he's right though.. mdz is a ok defenseman at BEST... he doesn't have hockey smarts at all... it's sad that people still go off of his "potential"

i don't have to prove anything to you, and couldn't care less what you think.

you conveniently made excuses for why he blew his coverage on 2-3 goals tonight.

what is there left to say to you?

I think its time to seriously consider moving Staal. See what his value is around the league, see what we can manage to move him for. Ideally a center.

Maybe Staal + for a 1b center?

DZ played a good game and he literally gave me no good reason as to why he didn't.

I like the senseless bashing of the kid. He's far from the problem this game and it's somehow still his fault.

Half this board has some serious ****ing agenda issues.

Good for you and your personal victories.

Take your agenda somewhere else.

I agree. Staal can not play in this system, has almost no puck moving ability.

im beginning to think the people who defend MDZhaven't played a *** game in their life:laugh:

Oh great, another member of the "you don't understand hockey unless you've played" crowd.

Staals play is worrisome. It's not even that he can't pick up on the play or loses his man (i.e. vision issues) he has been making some brutally lazy passes in his own zone that have lead to turnovers. Often when he's all alone.

He looks nothing like the player he was.

Dorsett makes Avery look like a first ballot Hall of Famer.

i'm no Avery fan. At least not the second version of Avery, but this is a joke.

Avery could turn a game around with his antics, fighting, and hockey ability. That says a lot from a bottom six forward. We barely have any players that can excel in their primary roles much less add value outside of it.

Dorsett is a clown. we have a team with two midgets and full of *******.

To the guy who said that the "new" Garden is an easy place for opponents to play... the "old" Garden was, too.

no agenda... just pointing out wat I see... if MDZ played on my team my coach would never play him.. he's just not a good defenseman plain and simple

That was my point.

I've watched hockey for over 25 yrs, and i've seen every game Del Zotto has played. He can't play defense. He loses his man and his assignment night after night.

I guess AV is scratching him for no reason? Yet i'm accused of having an agenda?

The only team that would be willing to pay a premium for Staal are the Carolina Hurricanes.

Last year, the Hurricanes were prepared to offer Jeff Skinner straight up for Marc Staal.

Right now, I'm not sure the Hurricanes, or anyone else in the NHL would offer anything more than a fourth round pick and a bag of used pucks for Staal.

Source?

So he's beyond reproach? If anything that means he's capable of better.

Which is fine to say, except you usually fly off the deep end over every questionable goal he ever allows. There is middle ground there to be reached, but it's usually rare to be seen on these boards.

How do you know they will pay a premium?

I want Sather to look into dealing Staal, see what his value is around the league. See what Staal+ can get you. Hell, see if Staal+Hagelin can get you a young 1st line center.

Our D afterwards:

McD-Girardi
MDZ-Stralman
John Moore-Falk/McI

It's a good group.

Edit: Possible center I'd personally would look at that I think are realistic targets:

Galchenyuk
B. Schenn

Less likely but would love to have:

N. Backstrom (pipedream)
RNH
Matt Duchene (pipedream)
Ryan Johansen
