I think he's smarter than that -
He walked and got paid -
We'd all do that under the circumstances -
Or are you the guy that falls on his sword when doing so actually does more harm than good for the org?
what? you know that the jets would still have to pay his salary if he was fired right, him resigning actually let the jets off the hook and he was lucky the jets took care of him...

How many NHL coaches have resigned mid season? I think he was forced out myself but due to undying loyalty they allowed him to leave with grace.

Also he is one of the biggest culprits in creating this culture. It's going to take a lot to get this team out of this mess.

Times are tough on the Jets board when we are still blaming the coach that is long gone -
Do you think there might be other issues at play here? No?
other than the pk what is systematically different from maurice to lowry...

Sometimes you have to make tough decisions and get rid of players for the betterment of the team, I not in the locker room and know nothing about the dynamics of this team but something just isn't right with the make up of this team.

I'd start with the captain and if his first mate doesn't smarten up he can walk the proverbial plank out of town ad well.

I was at home tonight and decided to not watch the game because I wasn’t really interested. Four games ago I said in the PGT that our next 4 games were very tough and we’ll see what we’re made of and we did by losing all 4 games.

Apathy has taken ahold of me, I am not even mad just kind of bored.
Yeah. For the first time in a long time, I forgot there was a game. Looks like it’s a good thing!

The Jets took care of him - they didn't have to but it was obviously part of the deal for him walking without the disruption of firing the guy.
What's so hard to understand?

that logic is hard to understand... you think maurice leaving the team on his own free will is less of a distraction then him being fired? if anything that would probably raise more questions within the group..

Like I said, he walked and got paid - that's what we know.
Keep on blaming him if it makes you feel better - keep on assuming you know the details behind his leaving.
Based on some of the comments coming up now, ,we've moved on to blaming Lowry -
And around we go

I also posted it and could see the writing on the wall after Wheeler's smug and arrogant interview after he had his mini scoring streak. Too bad he lacks humility and thinks he is still playing at an elite level.
I was Wheelers biggest fan for a few years, now he just seems like he thinks he’s above it all. Buh bye. Take your best bud 55 with you.

If the team thought it would be a smoother transition by firing him, I'd have to assume they would have fired him.
Maurice stated the team needed to hear a new voice - that takes the pressure off the players IMO. What other questions would be raised?
By firing him, the players could consider themselves as part of the problem that forced the firing.
This happens a lot -

I bought everything you said until this, then I heaved.

European hockey is garbage to watch.

I can understand how you feel about European hockey, but the Jets need a culture change, and there's some great players coming out of European hockey leagues, and especially Finland. Think Barkov, Rattenan, Laine, and many others from a small country with only 5 million people. They do play a more defensive style, but that wins you games, just like Carolina does.

Just a suggestion on my part, but the Jets are going to have to make some big changes, and I just proposed several that I could think of, for posters to think about.

Give Doobie a letter

Listening to the interviews, Doobie and A Lowry call out the fact they are missing an "Identity" - a style to fall back on that will get them through 3 periods.
Coach comes out and states they have an identity - play hard and fast like they did in the first -
That says it all -
