Really think that there will be trades and moves on Day 2 of the season after teams make cap compliance and can activate LTIR

Ehlers for A would be nice imo. On top of being one of our most consistently effective players, just seems like a positive upbeat dude.
i don't think the best players are always necessarily the best leaders. and truthfully, we aren't privy to all the details of what they do or say.

however,
just what ive heard from ehlers over the years, i hear a guy that's taken accountability for his play (even though he's one of our premier fwds) more than any of our supposed leaders. doesn't complain, plays his role whatever the coach dictates. he's in his prime years, signed for the next 3, & overall think he's handled stuff like media responsibilities quite well. i wouldn't mind him as an A.

I'm not so sure about the "Wheeler stripped of C" narrative. I mean I don't have a problem with that...a change is needed for sure. I just think it's entirely possible that Wheeler himself may have requested the move...or at least that it's a mutually agreed upon thing.

I think this is more likely, actually. He was clearly unhappy and uncomfortable the role a few years ago, and especially last season.

JMo for sure in the mix, likely Lowry also. Can see maybe Schmidt or KC there also as assistants at some point. I'd say Helle, but not sure I've seen many (or any) goalies with a letter recently.

Anyway, good news, and should also clear a path for Wheeler to play down the lineup as and when required.

While many thought this was needed, it is quite another thing to see the org actually remove the C from such a long standing player. It shows me they are serious about correcting the room which is good.

I see Morrissey, Lowry as foresure in the mix. Other then that I'm not sure.

If they were serious about correcting the room they would get rid of the problem player/players, not just move the C or A's to different players. This is just to make it look like they are doing something. The problem player/players are still in the room, and that's not good.

Wonder if they go with 6 A's, 3 at home and 3 on the road,
Morrissey
Scheif
Lowry
Connor
Dubois (some sort of incentive to stick around)

I think they were trying to trade Wheeler and he was ok with it. I don't think they found something they liked. Plan B is to downgrade his leadership role and give it to the "new" generation. As the cap clears up and depending on how our season goes they might re visit trading him at the deadline if not I bet he goes next summer

Especially since we know there was a mutual agreement to look for a trade for him.

Yup, these are my thoughts too.

My leadership group would be
Lowry - C
JoMo, Connor - A
I'd like to have DeMelo in there but no sense having two As on a D pairing

I think you have to reward the guys that didn't quit last year and make it clear that there is accountability to leadership... I doubt the Jets do that though.

Absolutely. He's kind of a lock for the leadership group, put that way.

Actually, you had me at "Ehlers."

Following Pomo footsteps? Lost the room.
So now Wheeler will pout all season
Or will there actually be some accountability this year?
I think he really will follow Pomo... that's probably the delay - fully expect Tkachuk-Barkov-Wheeler as their top line

Wheeler (retained) for Hornqvist and 2nd round
