I don’t understand all the dumping on Pionk he was not that bad.
The only big negative I have to say … I was sweating every time Schmidt and Dillion were on the ice … they are the weakest link on the team.
I'm dumping on him being used in a specific situation, and in reality I'm not dumping on him, I'm dumping on the coaches for using him in said situations. He's been good 5v5.

Loved everything about that game outside the last 5 minutes. I hate the bunker defend style and that is what we went to and it nearly bit us. But all in all another real good game by the team.

Helle was better tonight but still has another level in him.

JoMo was beating and DeMelo was very good. Morrissey looks poised for another Norris caliber year.

Pionk/Snerg - another solid night for this pairing. Snerg just compliments Pionk's game quite well.

Dillion/Schmidt - A whole lot of meh from this pairing I thought.

Top line: Conner and Scheifele were flying out there. Vilardi was a bit quieter then the first game but still was solid.

Second line: Cole looked much more comfortable going forward tonight. Made a heads up pass on DeMelo's goal. Ehlers and Nino played real well as well and the line could have had a couple more. They crushed their matchups once again.

Third line: Did their best work on the PK imo. Were solid but not great 5 on 5.

Fourth line: Kupari is really growing on me. Future 3C imo. Barron was good and name was ok.

Onto next game.

Koopa looked good tonight.

Fyi.
The team calls him Koop.

I really hope we see Perfetti soon. I'm thinking he's mainly focusing on his c positioning and responsibilities but he's not really involved offensively

This is following his AHL start at C to a t. Getting used to the positioning and defensive responsibilities. I thought he was more involved offensively then last game. To be fair the line didn't get a tonne of ice time with all the penalties.

I think you need to give him 20 games. He's smart enough to figure out out and the rewards will be worth it

Agreed Agar, but he has all but invisible so far putting him back on the wing might take some the pressure off off him

I honestly don't know what more you guys should be expecting from a player two games into a posion change. He has an assist and his line is clicking at about 80 XGF% through two games. While he hasn't been flashy offensively he's been excellent defensively and was really driving transition play through the nz. I'm sure his coach is thrilled with how things are going so far.

His offense will pick up once he gets his reads down pat and ingrained. Some patience is required.

And it's not like the Jets have a better option at 2C anyways. What's the alternative? Namestnikov to the 2nd line? Vilardi and breaking the chemistry of the top line? Perfetti line has great metrics at 5v5 and haven't been scored against... while Ehlers/Nino are probably doing a lot of the heavy lifting, I don't see much reason to complain. Maybe the Jets look for an upgrade at 2C at the deadline if the season goes well and Perfetti isn't a fit, but so far I see not a lot of reasons to complain... yes he hasn't been flashy but lets give em a few more games esp since Ehlers hasn't had a preseason and is clearly rusty.

Be great to see the Ehlers, Perfetti line start to click, and we'd be sitting pretty as a team, and scoring in buckets. Gotta get Cole going, and as for Ehlers the points will come.

Ehlers and Nino two notorious high volume shooters/analytics poster boys on the same line.... And that line doing well in shot share... You don't say :naughty:
