People will look for reasons to be upset about absolutely anything. Any video I've ever seen of a dog or cat doing literally ANYTHING on Instagram has people in the comments talking about how it's "abuse".

I have no idea why people are so tightly wound.
friendly banter or trash talk, especially between former teammates is normal. has anyone played sports here? esp when someone you know is on the opposing side? if this hurts ppl's feelings, id probably avoid hearing what gets actually said in-game.

They tried that last playoffs and he sunk a bottom pair with Samberg on it which is really tough to do. He was way too slow footed for the Avs. Once again he will be 27 when the playoffs start so what we see is what we get. It is HIGHLY probable he is not going to become something different.

One possible explanation they keep him around is to pick up the slack on fighting so Adam doesn’t have to do it all by himself. After the departure of Dillon Adam is otherwise alone on an Island. Stan is not much of a fighter but he is willing.
maybe scheifele is calling the shots... both from Kitchener 🤔

Admittedly he is a 3rd pairing asset making $1.25 million and I usually don’t sweat the details on our 4th line and bottom pairing too much. My give a shit factor on this is about a 2 out of 10.
Normally, I would agree... but there's a pretty direct link between some of our recent losses and Stan. Vegas for example...

I'd say our 3rd pairing is more important in the playoffs given our average top 4 talent - Jomo got trapped playing shutdown and Pionk had no answers for offence - thats a huge part of our game.

My wild card prediction is that Chevy manages to pull off a trade for Matheson just before TD

That would be SO Winnipeg haha - like it ends up that Stan is Scheif's moms weekly canaste partners nephew

i don't either usually however if it's forcing morrissey and co. to be overworked i think there's concern. also, stanley is tied for the most minor penalties taken of our D group: he's played almost 500 minutes less than the guy he is tied with & evidently much lower down the depth chart/roles/responsibilities. if you standardized it by per TOI...his rate of minor penalties are more than 2x the rest of our Dmen, and one of the highest in the league of dmen w/ similar mins played.

Yea taking minor penalties at that rate is not acceptable.

This just in, Patrik Laine is listed as day-to-day with injured feelings.

But yes, I know exactly what you mean. I personally thought it was so obvious that they were kidding that it didn't even occur to me that someone could get upset about it. It was a fun interaction.

I play goal so I'm shielded from a lot of the "banter" between players (also because I am absolutely fricking nuts and I think opposing players tread lightly around my crease 😇), but it is really just a part of playing any sport.

Yes but only against certain teams. It is too early to play playoff style hockey but not to early to work on the details and focus on puck management. Too many less than A games lately..
I think this boils down to expectations

Realistically, there isn't a team in the league that can dominate every other team in the league over long stretches, even with their A game

There also isn't a single team that can and does being its A game every night over 82 games. Players will have bad games, and teams collectively will have bad games

When people lose sight of these things, it's easy to become frustrated when a team has a bad game or stretch of bad games (for whatever reason). Being able to collect some points during those stretches is what puts teams at the top of the standings

The only frustrating thing about this team is that Stanley is still part of the line up. I’m willing and able to forgive the rest.

Stanley will go down as one the worst first rounders we made. Not just because he's bad and we use a first-round pick on him, but because he's actively hurting the lineup by us refusing not to learn our lesson and keep trying to shoehorn this big, doofy, lanky, game-killing defenseman in our lineup.

It's reminiscent of us trying to make pavelec happen.

They know what they have in miller and coghlan so they must be trying to see if Stan can be the big physical D for the playoffs.
Why not try Heinola with a real partner for a bit? He is much faster and smarter but admittedly he needs to reps.

Anyone bent out of shape with Laine’s “flu” comments.
I guarantee you would be loving it, if he was still playing for the Jets and said that.
Not to mention it’s a joke between him and Helle.

The fact that he is getting 2x penalties and cost us playoff games because of his bad penalties would be enough to waive him. Obviously trade him for anything you can get or waive him.

We're better without him.

We are sleeping on Coghlan, he's very skilled

DeMelo and Stanley are our liabilities right now.

No one laments Vesalainen as a first round pick. We gave him some extra leash being a 1st rounder. It didn't work out. So we moved on. The way it should be.

Only reason Stan gets so much shit is because, well... he is still here for some reason lol
