Release the Axel, Just remove Wheels..

Seriously b'jaysus already. 26 is now actively impairing his line(s), not just slowing them down. He needs to move down and/or off PP1 for a stretch at least. Maybe he'll fire himself down to the 3rd. Make the hard choices, Bones.

Otherwise though the Jets controlled play as I watched the game this morning over our crappy UK cornflakes, with a few blips as in the early 3rd.

Lowry's line had themselves a game, Apples maybe his best in a long stretch.

Capo looked rough at times, not sure Schmitty helped him much.

If they can pace themselves up a few... erm, a few hundred notches against LA we'll at least get a glimpse into how PO Jets might look. Otherwise they can limp on into SJ and hope for a stronger bounce there.

But they need to fix that PP, finally, fast. This is not sustainable and team loyalties etc. should not be involved. Make the hard choices, Bones.

Avanti!

It's so funny because if that goes in on that pass people are singing his praises.

Wheeler used to routinely make passes like that, I know that hasn't been the case recently.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be on the 3rd line, and when Perfetti comes back that should absolutely happen
I have to agree with 31's thoughts on this. To my eye (replay aided), Wheeler had half the net and was in the best scoring position. IMO, primetime Wheeler, although a superb passer, would have taken the shot and most likely scored. I think that Wheeler, knowing that his shot isn't what it used to be, is having all sorts of doubts about his game and is making all sorts of "bad" decisions.

We become a much better team if we can move Wheeler into a checking role. Bones only needs to watch the game to see all the plays dying on his stick. They say "it's the little things" but, this is huge.
Yup. I was so hoping Chevy could have swung one more deal for a top 6 RW! Then we could have pushed Wheeler and Appleton down a line. It would have made a world of difference IMO.

Have to agree sounds like you don't normally. I agree with you as well , really i wouldn't mind Barron and Wheeler switching for a few games, i like how Barron is playing lately.

Your posts are one of the reasons I keep coming back here, always entertaining. And I also agree that Barron deserves a shot.

Lowry's line looked great, particularly Appleton who was a difference maker last night. As such any thought of bumping Wheeler down to RW3 to replace isn't sound reasoning.

IDK about that. As coach you'd have to weigh the benefits of an unchanged Lowry line against the benefits of a 2nd line that might score more and give up less once it's playing faster and more error-free.

You might also weigh the benefits of giving an unchained Barron more ice time and a shot as a difference maker on that now faster, stronger and shootier second line -- but that raises the unthinkable (for the Jets) prospect of moving Wheeler down to the 4th line.

Several ways to reason soundly around this one, IMO.

Fell asleep after the second and was pumped when I checked .

I’m starting to think wheeler is getting played on what he gets paid . This has to be a Chipman choice .

Played better and loved Connor getting one .

If the top 6 starts playing like the bottom 6 we can make a run

Fell asleep behind the wheel of my forklift at work today. I didn't do any damage but the boss told me no more watching late games...

Boss - Why are you loading a pallet of beer into the back of your pickup?
Macmaroon - Wow, you are right, Boss. I watched the late Jet's game and must have fallen asleep. Sorry. Won't happen again (checks calendar), until Tuesday.

We need Perfetti back to help Scheifele out imo. Marks best stretches came with Cole this year. Put Nino on right and you have a balanced line. Run Conner, Dubois and Fly. You then try to create something with Wheeler and Barron on the fourth imo.

I just don't see the benefit of placing Wheeler onto a checking line, particularly when it's his defensive game that is most commonly being called into question.

I've no issue with the premise of demoting Wheeler, but not to the Lowry line where Appleton is doing just fine.

And this is more like it. It'll take a change in the way Bowness handles the bench, but rolling four lines and playing Barron with Wheeler is one I'd endorse, particularly once Perfetti returns and a ton of options emerge with the forward lines.

I’m seeing Bergeron gets hit hard and Marchand jump the guy like he’s protecting family .

When are the jets going to start sticking up for themselves . When is the last time one of our guys got hammered and we jumped the guy?

I think this type of protection is needed to be successful in the playoffs. And I’m hockey in general.

Big big win, Congrats all of you that stayed up and have to work early in the morning. The Jets rewarded you
It figures, we get a "Big big win" and I missed it. Also missed my usual Sportscentre recap this morning. Found a brief highlights package that shows all 3 of our goalscorers were within 1 meter of the net (about 3 feet for some of you). Maybe that's our key to going forward, having guys close in.

Also noticed, thanks to great replays, how little Helle saw of the shot that went in over his shoulder. We need to do a much better job of clearing away big guys in front of our net. We need to do a better job in lots of areas but we came out with 2 points and that's all that matters with the Preds keeping pace.

I wonder if the guys get the day off to go to Disneyworld? I haven't been for a few years but it truly was magical.

I'll read the rest of the PGT ovr lunch.
