They sure sure do play the top line a ton - be nice to avoid these guys in the first round - I can see that group slowing down through the playoffs (at least a bit). But that is one crazy good line that can shift into top gear in a blink - and that's what throws most apposing teams back on their heels.
The next lesson for the Jets is to learn how to adapt to that level of play - as best they can.
Yeah that's what I'm trying to say, it's impressive how much 2 players can take over. It sucks to not have any players like that. I don't feel like we were the better team that game and it only gets worse when they add depth. They go from dominating while Makar and MacKinnon are on and treading water otherwise to being effective sometimes when they're not on and having even less attention on them when they are.

Using 95 points will likely get you a playoff spot, Jets can almost go .500 the rest of the season and be in. 34-33-1

I'm very glad we beat Colorao because I'm sure the sports media had all kinds of headlines percolating if they had won "oh look, Jets still can't beat the Avalanche" etc

Reading butthurt Avs fans comments is entertaining.

What isn't entertaining is reading comments by Jets fans on the Avs fans forum stating how much better of a team the Avs are and how they will always destroy us in the playoffs.
Now I fully expect the Avs to make the playoffs unless something goes seriously wrong but as of today they are not in the playoffs. So they have to get there before they have a chance to destroy us again

From my eye test, our lack of offense was rooted in not being able to exit our zone with the puck and then being too disconnected with puck support in the o zone to build sustained pessure

Hopefully the Jets coaching staff is looking at the film and they're starting to come up with adjustments to address this

I'd start with Stanley sitting the next Avs game out... his lack of footspeed exposes him against a team like that

Also, props to Arniel to making the ESV/CNP adjustment when he did. He may not need to do that every game, but it changed the momentum in this game. We started getting some zone time after that

The simple adjustment is to have defensemen that instinctively move the puck out quickly and decisively...

The Av's feast on the hesitancy of our D' against them...

Fleury should be in against the Av's for starters...

You can extrapolate from there...

Their injury woes will eventually disappear and good luck to anyone playing them if they actually get top-tier goaltending. Much like Helle and the Jets, the Avs won't miss as long as they have MacK and Makar, those two can carry any carcass to the playoffs. It's odd how we can shut down McDavid but struggle mightily against MacKinnon, I just don't get what he does.

Mackinnon's supporting cast is more balanced...

Deeper...

The Av's defensemen are better than the Oil... not hard to do...

The Av's goaltending is average... and that's better than the Coilers...

I mean I don't support posting in other teams' GDT but it'd be tough to argue that the Avs won't be a favorite against the Jets in a playoff series. Helle can pull miracles yes but that's asking a lot. Hopefully the Jets can exorcise those demons before the playoffs.

Saw a tweet about the only other team to get to 13 wins this quickly: the 2007 Ottawa Senators.

Don't look up how they finished.

The Sen's have won the cup... ?

A lot of times the D are under direct pressure as they retrieve the puck. Jets coaches need to make an adjustment that gives the D 2 close support options that are easy reads to make. One could be a switch to the weak side

The issue they're running into is that as the wingers collapse lower to support the D in the corner, the Avs very often activate their D to collapse on that winger

At least tonight we saw the Jets coaching staff make an adjustment with that stretch pass. I'm not sure how great of an adjustment it was, but it was something and it was done in real time. It shows that they won't wait a game or two to try to do it like that playoff series

Some teams just don’t match up well. We don’t match with the Avs well IMO. When they flip the switch, it’s tough for us to handle. No one has played us this year like they did, and they are missing some key players.

Not directed at you, but I don’t have a problem acknowledging good teams, and they definitely have one.

Just got back from the game. Had all the confidence in the Jets I didn’t even have to clench the glute muscles in the end.

Hellebuyck earned every penny of that 8 million dollar contact tonight.

Bring on the Stars baby!

Fractions of seconds matter...

It's a subtle thing...

Our forwards were where they needed to be...

The passing lanes were there...

Some of the D' just held on for that hestitant second the Av's needed to close the gap...

And they are an amazing "Active Stick" team...

A clinic of how to distrupt passing lanes... control Jets sticks... everywhere all over the ice...

The Jets if they can come close on Active Sticks alone will supercede the Av's...

The Av's active sticks everywhere has been the best I've seen this year so far....

Bummer...
