Reading butthurt Avs fans comments is entertaining.

What isn't entertaining is reading comments by Jets fans on the Avs fans forum stating how much better of a team the Avs are and how they will always destroy us in the playoffs.
Mind games 101 with their fans:dunno:

A fooling yourself type of win here for the Jets. The Jets were outhustled, and outclassed by the Avs. From the 2nd period forward, the Avs dominated the play. If we don't find a way to play the Avs better, they will repeat what they did to us in the playoffs.

You can't rely on your goaltender to perform magic, because eventually, shots start filling the net behind him. If we can figure out a way to play like we did in the 1st period, for all 3 periods, then I'll be convinced we're the better team.

Tonight the Avs were the better team, but our Goaltender gave us the win. Nice 2 points for the Jets, but clearly work to do on consistency, if your going to beat these guys in the playoffs.

Is it consistency or were we outclassed? They have two top 3 players in their lineup. Makar is significantly better than morrissey.

It also helps those refs would have allowed Avs to get away with murder.

Outplayed, doesn't matter to me all that matters is the win. As the old adage goes it doesn't matter how but rather how many as in 26 points
Being outplayed and dominated like that, should matter to the Jets, and Coaching staff, and Arneil admitted that after the game. Playing the way the Jets did tonight, wins you 1 game ( tops) against this team in the playoffs. Jets have to find a way to play these guys better.

Wait a sec

Our best player was the best player on the ice, and it won us the game

Since when do goalies not appear on the official roster? Why do we have to win a specific way for it to be a win that counts?

Avs WEREN'T a better team tonight, because the goaltender is part of the team

Their injury woes will eventually disappear and good luck to anyone playing them if they actually get top-tier goaltending. Much like Helle and the Jets, the Avs won't miss as long as they have MacK and Makar, those two can carry any carcass to the playoffs. It's odd how we can shut down McDavid but struggle mightily against MacKinnon, I just don't get what he does.
It’s his power style game that gives the Jets fits. McDavid is sheer speed but he can’t over power you if you play a junkyard dog style against him. MacKinnon can.

This an interesting dynamic of hockey. No one ever apologizes that their top forward had to out score his opponent to win or your top defender controlled play and won his matchups to win. But if your goalie does the same thing you need to apologize for the win.

Maybe "outclassed" , as you say, they have the top 3 players in their lineup. I still think with the right gameplan, and a 100 % effort, for all 3 periods, this Avs team is beatable. Jets have great players as well.

A second line... Drouin and Nuchichushchkin. Puts a massive burden on the top line, and makes match-ups easier for us.
So interesting drouin being talked about as if he is good, so used to him sucking.

But, can goalies do it as consistently?

Valid point - sometimes you win because you had a great defensive game, sometimes it's your special teams, sometimes it's your offense - and sometimes it's good goaltending.
The interesting thing about this game was that it was a goaltending battle as much as it was a display of skilled skaters - and the shot count was close between these 2 - this was not as lopsided as it may have looked. I think when a team is winning a lot of games, you expect dominance - and that's not always how you win.

we played way better vs them in the regular season last year and it had no impact on the playoffs... we played bad but it wasn't even close to what the playoffs were like
But they were missing 2/3 of a second line and a decent 3rd liner. Insert those 3 and that put 3 Avs players back to the AHL where they belong.

And I’m not even counting Landeskog who has been out forever.

You should go and listen to the Aves coach post game comments (NHL.COM) - he didn't see it this way at all. Very good listen for those interested.

For a 1-0 game I thought it was pretty entertaining. The Jets certainly had a good game plan in the 1st period. Getting outshot 26-13 the rest of the game was probably not in the game plan. A little disappointing that many of those shots came from secondary Avs players.

I thought that was the first time all year that Lowry and his line looked overmatched, trying to defend Mackinnon.

I like that Arniel tried to make adjustments in the 3rd period with the Avs pressing. Shortened the bench a little, and rewarded the guys who were playing strong defensively.

Hellebuyck being in the zone is exactly what this team needs.

Arniel recognized the Avs as a good analytic team, and they came through with a lot of offensive pressure. Definitely see a playoff team there, if they get and stay healthy, with some more layers of offense.

I really loved how the team layed it on the line, gave their bodies up for this win. Not every win is a rose. Sometimes it's just battle until the final whistle.

Looking forward to attending Saturday's game, which should be another beauty.

I don't know if Landeskog ever makes it back, 2 years is a long time to be out, he still is only 31 but he has had a few set backs that tell something just isn't right with his knee and may never be right

Also as is tradition:

Not to overreact, but Connor Hellebuyck is the greatest Winnipeg Jet of all time.
I have to agree, but if we all voted (and as a 74-year-old (like Ulf Nilsson) who saw them all) I was a Teemu Selanne fan always, Helly has put himself in some incredible company! (I would put the inimitable Dustin Bfuglien up there somewhere as well 😄)
Helly has been the heart and soul of our team, and helped lift us all back up where we have always belonged. Just My 23.5 Canadian Cents worth guys and gals.
