The plan is already in motion for when Nuke needs to take his next piss test

Agreed but I think that can wait until the Summer.

If Landeskog isn't returning until playoffs or at all, this team IIRC still has LTIR space to take advantage of. Getting a 3C like Gourde then moving Colton to wing would go a long way to helping our playoff chances.
Drouin - Mac - Nuke
Lehky - Mitts - Mikko
Colton - Gourde - Landy
Wood - Kelly - LOC

That is a team poised to make a deep run. Even if they had to swap Landy and LOC at the outset, this could be a murderer's row. Conversely, if Landy is ready to go, then swap him and Lehky. If the Roaring 20s line was effective, a Colton - Gourde - Lehky line would be hell to play against. It could math up defensively aagainst every 1st line in the league;

Purely hypothetical.... Mittelstadt is still playing like ass in February, and the Rangers have completely broken down.

Mittelstadt+ for Trocheck+

Yay, nay? Comparable offensive numbers this year, Trocheck had better numbers before this year. But he's also older and probably on the worst contract of the two given his age.

But, he has been a solid 2C for his entire career, good two-way guy and quite productive.

Casey for Sid is the only way I'm giving up on Mitts this early.
I've got a couple of other people I'd be willing to give up Mitts for, but they need to be a clear upgrade. If we could make the cap work for Miller or Pettersson, I think the upside is there that it makes sense. Crosby for sure (just get Marchand in the summer, haha). Not really sure who else would make sense that would be available.

Keep Miller far away from us. We just got rid of Georgiev and it's done wonders for the team.

He was really good in the playoffs last year. No one on NYR has been good this year. Still not sure id do Mitts for him it’s not a clear upgrade imo
I won't dispute he was great for them in the playoffs, but I'm focused on this year. One of two things is happening IMO. Either that locker room has collectively quit on both Drury and Laviolette, or the Rangers are literally hitting the age regression before our very eyes with players like Kreider, Trocheck, and Zibanejad.

This team is desperate for strong locker room players. They lost Landy and EJ and Cogs, and before that, they lost Kadri and Helm.

Wedgwood was a great start, but I can almost guarantee that the next acquisitions between now and the deadline will be big locker room guys

These are the players we should realistically pine over

Like captain of the three time cup winning penguins? Pretty good locker room leader.

The Rangers have been covering for their shortcomings of their roster for a while now with elite special teams and even more elite goaltending. They also got WAY more out of Zibanejad than they had any right to expect. They’ve clearly quit but I think it’s also them finally getting exposed.

Zero chance they have all hit a wall at the same time, especially to that degree. They quit on Drury, we already know that.

It's impossible to judge their players based on what they have done this season, even Panarin and Fox are producing at 75% of last year.
