It's a fallacy with the team that Heinola or Fleury should be in against a speedier team.

They have in the past. Toronto has benched all their stars.
The Leafs did that for multiple ongoing issues and not playing well as a group. Connor stayed on too long for one power play., he isn’t going to get in to trouble for that. Now if he continuously did stuff like that then ya they would address it.

Agree 100%
Well, maybe 98%. Not sure which comes first, chicken or egg. Maybe watch, analyze and then watch again, or some more.

But honestly, I don't see much of "the coach is a dinosaur because he doesn't deploy these guys together". I see (and sometimes write) head scratching. Why doesn't the coach do it differently, despite all of this evidence?

Your observation helps explain why the stats show what they do. That doesn't change the fact that Scheif and KC is a poor combination and Scheif Ehlers is a good one. So we are still left wondering why it must be the way it is.

So far this season Connor (and to a lesser extent, Scheifele) is playing much better and it is showing up in their stats and in the win column. I hope they can keep it up.

Something I think I have seen this year is KC carrying the puck more than he did in the past. Not so much on zone exits, but on zone entries. It is another addition to that lines weapons.

That's about what I suspected. They have been effective, so that deployment of KC is not really necessary. Not sure why it was done that time.
As I said above it wasn’t “deployment” by the coach, it was Connor extending his shift .

West Coast
Avs played a dominating game for the last 2 periods vs the Jets last night but if they are so great how come they have 8 losses in14 games.
Avs have lost to:
Utah 2-1
VGK 8-4
CBJ 6-3
BOS 5-3
CHI 5-2
TB 5-2
NAS 5-2
and the JETS 1-0
Jet have beaten every team that the Avs lost too that they played. The Jets themselves know they did not play their best 60 minute game so why are so many people having a meltdown.

Exactly. We don't have a Mackinnon and Makar but they don't have a Helly.
Does anyone realize they are so thin in talent that they had to play a guy that had never scored a goal in the league when they pulled the goalie? Anyone who thinks that depth of talent isn’t going to be a playoff factor is not seeing the whole picture. Jets have that. Avs don’t.

Thin on talent due to injury.

It's a long way from the playoffs, Avs were missing 4 regulars from their lineup. And there is still time to make moves before the end of the season. Avs made two solid trades at the deadline to put themselves in the position they were in to beat the Jets last year.

Staying healthy is the key, so far the Jets depth hasn't been tested, but I would agree with you that the Jets have better depth as an organization.

Interesting you addressed my post, but, quoted a different, unrelated one. :)

This relates to my post in the other thread, amazing we have done so well without a guy drafted 1 oa as there is a huge difference between the good ones McD, McKinnon, Barkov and everyone drafted after. Personal opinion that Barkov is a defensive 2 way beast.

Pretty wild thread for a win...

Watched the third - helle kept us in it and the jets looked tired - but they held the line

Still dont understand how georgiev looks like a vezina goalie against us and terrible the rest of the time
