Rumor: Jesse Puljujarvi Part 3: Maybe He Picked Out His Brain Through His Nose One Lick at a Time?

Kucherov is a good example as well of scouting bias and consensus ranking "issues".

Kucherov annihilated the WJC in his draft year... 3 pts/game... he was ridiculous in that tournament and after watching him play I was shocked how far he fell in the draft even though he was likely BPA in that entire draft... yet he was chosen 58th overall... so obviously the "Russian factor" caused the consensus to rate him far, far, far below what he was actually worth.

TB took a shot at him in the late 2nd and the rest is history.

TB is good at not overcomplicating talent

They also signed Tyler Johnson after he went undrafted the year he was voted Best Overage Player, Top Defensive Forward, Best Skater, and Top Faceoff Man, second in Most Valuable to Team, and third in Most Accurate Shot in the Best of the West 2011 poll.

Lol in other words, I dont want to work my way up and I just want to be given top 6 because I was always that before I entered the league.

Guy is clueless. smh

Acknowledges language was an issue, but didn't work on it. Bolts to Finland every chance he gets. Doesn't listen to coaches, wants 15+ min a night TOI

Yup, he's a complete moron. Dumbest hockey player on the planet atm

Guy has an entitled attitude and figures that he should just be gifted minutes in a top 6 role vs earning them.

He didn't say anything like that, are you confusing Jesse's answers with the interviewers own speceh?

Based on the translation -
He basically said he was always top 6 in the past and needs to be there to be productive.

He's not even a productive bottom 6 NHLr at this stage; what good is putting him in top 6?

He also thinks NHL is best for him when clearly he's not ready.

He is so out of touch with regards to his own skill level. Physical tools; just no brain.

He didn't say anything like that. He was very humble in that interview and gave Oilers credit too. He said that he have given opportunity but it's about small things like language. His main target is to play in a top 6 role 15 minutes a game but he added that he is going towards that goal all the time.

I didn't get an impression that he wants anything given to him but a fair chance to show what he can. Things didn't fall into place in Edmonton but the situation might change if a trade takes place. He just doesn't believe that it could happen in Edmonton.

Then someone should correct that Lonnberg woman that tweeted out those translations.

Either way, JP is getting a fair chance with the Oil at where his skill level us at - bottom 6. But even there, it's questionable if he would have any impact.

If language is an issue he really has no one to blame but himself.

He's a 3 year pro at this point not some 18 year old.

Learning a language is hard but when it's essential for not only your job but a lifelong dream you would expect someone to put the work in.

I don't see how getting out of Edmonton solves that issue.

The best part is that if you can't get top 6 minutes on the Oilers, where the f*** do him and his agent think he's going to get gifted top 6 minutes. Edmonton has to have some of the worst winger depth in the league.

Main boards really are something else. Imagine thinking Aho is a better player than Draisaitl.

Leavins writes in his 9 Thoughts that PJ blew off his language classes that the Oilers arranged from Day 1 (contrary to popular belief that the Oilers didn’t arrange English lessons for him).

I’ve come to the conclusion JP is a f***ing entitled idiot.

When a Finnish GM passed on a consensus Finnish third overall pick that should’ve been our red flag.

Boom. And there we have it. So much for the "Oilers never tried to help him" stance that all the apologists kept preaching. They gave him ESL lessons, they had multiple coaches and 1 specifically to babysit him. Hell, they even brought countrymen to help him get in the groove. But nothing ever worked for the guy.

and the Oilers aren't even the ones giving up on the guy
he's giving up on them...despite the help they were trying to give him

what a clown

This makes complete sense. I have always put the bulk of the responsibility of learning English on Jesse and not on the club.
If Jesse didnt want to commit to learning english that speaks volumes about his work ethic and lack of commitment to being a Pro / good team mate.

Now he decides that the Oilers arent the right fit for him. What does he think he will find on another NHL team?
I have no time for players as dumb as this.

I've been saying for 3 years this guy saw the NHL more as a game than as a job. I even posted this quip from Craig Simpson wondering hte exact same thing after he met JP.

But of course the same talking heads around here questioned whther Simpson was a 'valid' source lol.

"Through an on-line translation, Puljujarvi is roughly quoted as saying that the language has been a challenge for him. He would like to speak better English and agreed that it has been one of several “small things (that) went wrong”. He likely regrets how he handled English lessons originally organized by the club. It has been widely reported that the team did not take this step. But I in fact am told that was not true at all. Instead, I am made to understand that Puljujarvi was aware of the lessons but “blew them off”.

This is for our buddy @nabob. Damn you really need to throw out some apologies, cuz you were WAYYYYYY off. No suprise tho

RIght or wrong, as soon as old school coaches like McLellan and Hitch got any sniff of that kind of attitude, it would automatically mean that Pulju will have to work his arse off and grind things out like mad to ever touch top 6 ice time. Acting entitled with those kinds of coaches...you may as well throw your jersey in the middle of the dressing room and take a dump on it. Not a wise approach. Took McLellan less than half a season to sense the attitude and kick Pulju to the bottom of the mountain to take for him to climb back up. Took Hitch a week. Hitch was so excited to work with the kid, imagine his shock :)

I think that's probably damn near any coach. No one likes entitled players, especially ones that have done nothing at the pro level. Sure maybe other coaches might be able to tolerate it a bit longer, but most guys won't deal with that crap for long.
