Still haven’t told me where you found all the Oiler games from three years ago. Do you dedicate that many days of watching three year old games to every player you don’t like, or is Jesse just really special to you?

Although the Oilers have a new well-respected GM and a new coach, the team is still pretty much the same," Lehto said in early July, as translated by the Edmonton Journal. "Sometimes a player and a team are not a fit. This seems to be the case here. Nothing radical about it.”

Yeh sometimes a team and its players just don't play well with dumbasses.

Cyah later Jessie. Hope you go to Europe and stay there until we lose your rights. Don't even want a trade to happen. Would rather see his career waste away into obscurity playing for a team where the undrafted and never-was's of the hockey world play. It's where Jesse belongs really.

Who says I dedicated 3 years?

What should be apparent to you, but I doubt that very much, is I called all this from day one while you kicked, screamed and grumbled , pleading to mods and humanity for any sort of justification:help:, often making things up just to suite your narrative...so much so you went on to state such nonsense....and this can't be stated enough

When JP scored a goal LATE in the year. You came on here and proclaimed he WoRkEd HaRD ALl SeAsoN on his positioning?

Ya, that Leavins article really put you in your place, and you don't have a leg to stand anymore...but you surely are trying. Cudos

LOL. Best hot take ever. JP scores a random goal and you pipe up w/"He really showed He WOrKeD HaRd on pOsItIoN". Classic @nabob

2 months later his teammates threw him under the bus

Great play by play lmao. You really made your argument. Viola

I want him back here and especially wouldn't trade him. Make an example out of him. Treat him like a child... he's whining like one so let him go back home to Europe and make much less money in a lower quality league and continue to lower his chances of being traded / having any other NHL interest. If I were Holland, I'd tell him straight up "no matter what you say, I'm not trading you." Show him he has no leverage.

After being stuck in Europe for several month's he'll realize his agent fooled him and will fire him for a new one that is ready to negotiate with the Oilers for a proper return if he's capable of playing at that level. If he's doing better, either bring him back long term, or if he doesn't quite fit with the team, let him build up his stock and trade him. I just wouldn't trade him on his terms. Make him fire his agent and admit he's wrong before doing anything.

These young players don't have any appreciation for how they have such an amazing opportunity in front of them that not everyone has. They aren't all superstars that can control where they play or how much they make. They have to accept that it's a business. You want to be part of the NHL, you have to agree to the terms. You can't make your own as you go along.

i only want him gone because he'd be a distraction and this is a soap opera the Oilers just don't need **AGAIN** after a decade + of soap opera BS ! this has nothing to do with his perceived talent. o_O

How will he be a distraction? It's not like his absence will be felt or cost the team games.

it will ! if he were to come back, it would likely be against his will so i believe we're better off trading him and his drama and move forward, and i hate to say it but i believe this is exactly what will happen with this guy anyways! but if Holland can't find a decent value trade, and i believe BS offers like a 2nd or a bunch of lower picks and prospects are being offered as if Chia was still here or something, then let him sit in Europe and play there until a decent trade can be made! o_O

The Oilers can be poor at developing players but they can't just keep good talent from showing what its got.

Justin Schultz still showed a lot of skill in his time here, he just was drowned by defensive assignments that were way over his head. But he showed the skill to be a 2nd pairing D (no.4 more comfortably) and that's basically what he is in Pittsburgh.

Dubnyk did have a good 2013 season in Edmonton. He's basically just became a most polished, more consistent version of that in Minnesota with a better D in front of him.

Jesse has shown very little in his oppurtunities here.

If you can play, you can play, a coach can't micromanage an NHL game like an NBA coach can by calling every play on every offensive set.

If you have talent it will show. I don't see it in Jesse's game. The skill level he has is not high enough.

I do agree if he is on the team he'd be a distraction. I just feel he won't ever be again. And if he's toiling away in Europe, who cares.

Agreed he's not a distraction if he's in Europe. Nobody will be talking about him. If they are it's because he's lighting it up there - in which case his value goes up and you consider a trade then.

In just barely over 1 calendar year, Dubnyk went from Edm-->Nsh-->Mtl-->Arz-->Min. That's 5 different organizations in 1 year. He's just lucky he miraculously salvaged his career.

He even admitted that he had a ton in his game he had to fix and that period was a massive wakeup call-up call and he changed how he played and trained

Montreal really didn't have a place for him, Arizona dumped him because he was basically winning too many games.

Dubnyk had three straight seasons in Edmonton of

.916
.914
.921

Save percentage behind a very wonky defence.

Schultz had 3 30+ point seasons in Edmonton (pro-rate the lock out year).

These guys were at least showing signs they could play.

Puljujarvi hasn't shown that, he hasn't even had one season like Yakupov's rookie year yet.

I still maintain that, all things considered, Pulju might be the more disappointing lottery pick out of the two of them.

Also, if anyone ever asks 30 years from now why the Oilers rebuild between 2009-2019 failed, the simple answer is that they got a total of 148 points out of a #1 overall pick and a #4 overall pick, and then traded away an actual good #1 pick for a #4 defenseman.

Yeah, there's a lot more to add, but that's a good start.

I had a couple of young nieces and nephews asking me why the Oilers have been so bad for so long and my response was: "How much time do you have?"

I basically just said that other teams have had better management, coaching, scouts and minor league development.

That's pretty much the jist of it.

All the other auxiliary issues - bad D, bad goaltending, bad coaching - all could have been overcome if even one of the things I listed turned out better. There are a whole bunch of bad decisions that stemmed from those three things not working out.

there will probably be 3 different GM:s before Oilers lose his rights and I am sure that when the next GM comes in he'll get rid of Jesse. Most managers like to get s*** done.

Jessie isn’t calling the shots here. A good manager isn’t going to give him what he wants. They are going to do what’s best for the team.

Bad owner.

Full stop.

It starts and ends there.

we don't know whether Oilers is going to have a good manager or not but I think that if he ends up in Europe, they will trade his rights sooner or later. If he plays well in Europe, his value goes up -> trade. If he sucks even there, they will be happy to get something -> his rights might be included in a bigger trade. Best for the team would be to persuade him to come back to Edmonton in September. The second best solution would be to get a trade done where they cut losses and get for example a bottom 1st round pick. The least best solution is to let him play in Europe because that one could end his NHL career altogether and they'll get nothing.

Hmmm...I'm pretty confident that Holland will be (is) a good GM. As a matter of fact, I'd be willing to bet that he'll be in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
