When the jersey is filled with ads, front and back, helmet to skates....
then lets talk...
then lets talk...
Yeah I know I want to buy a sweater to cheer on the Rogers Maple Leafs. Just because a more popular sport does something, doesn't inherently make it a good thing. In the actual popular sporting leagues in the world, the annual new jersey reveal is an event.
It's time for every team to come up with an iconic logo/seal that ends up in the corner with an ad taking center stage.
Something something shoes... something fit... something...You accused people who dislike jersey ads of being hypocritical crybabies...
True. No reason a niche sporting league should look at the successful ones on how to increase revenue. That's just a bad idea all around.Yeah I know I want to buy a sweater to cheer on the Rogers Maple Leafs. Just because a more popular sport does something, doesn't inherently make it a good thing.
As should we all when we stop enjoying something.I'm asking myself the bolded more and more lately.

I don't think ads for gambling sites are any more reprehensible and irresponsible than adds for beer and alcohol.I know that this was inevitable, but putting gambling ads on the jerseys is pretty reprehensible and irresponsible IMO.
Isn't that what I said?Sounds about right.
What can be done to stop this
Why do you care so much about increasing revenue? It’s not going in your pocket. It’s going into the owners’ pockets. And we the fans get ads on jerseys, ads on the glass, ads on the ice, ads on the boards, ads after whistles, etc.True. Maybe more fans would be okay with it if they stopped increasing the costs of tickets and concessions every year. Why do you care so much about increasing revenue? It’s not going in your pocket. Because sadly we live in a world where if something doesn't continue to make more and more money year after year it gets abandoned for something else that does. Yes, owning a pro team is a vanity thing more than anything else, but billionaires don't become billionaires by losing money hand over fist (usually). If owning an NHL team becomes too much of a money pit the league will wither and franchises will die. I'd rather that not happen. Why do you care so much about increasing revenue? A league the generates $5.2 billion is niche to you?True. No reason a niche sporting league should look at the successful ones on how to increase revenue. That's just a bad idea all around.
That's such a myth perpetrated by Bettman. You think owners are lining up to pay over half a billion dollars for the honor of owning a money pit?Because sadly we live in a world where if something doesn't continue to make more and more money year after year it gets abandoned for something else that does. Nah, NFL is probably the slowest in introducing new Jersey designs. Only soccer and NBA introduce 4 New Jersey’s every year which is dumb . The NFL and NHL have historical teams with iconic looks and I love thatIn the actual popular sporting leagues in the world, the annual new jersey reveal is an event.

Franchises are selling for half a billion dollars and you’re trying to tell me that they are money pits? Did you not read what I wrote? The growing revenue stream is what allows Bettman to keep finding buyers. If that goes away... good luck. That's such a myth perpetrated by Bettman. You think owners are lining up to pay over half a billion dollars for the honor of owning a money pit?
Luckily for the NHL us hockey fans are suckers.A league the generates $5.2 billion is niche to you?
