One could make the argument that we're beating a dead horse here.

So be it. Discuss, if you so choose. We'll keep all the Swayman talk contained to this thread.

If you have nothing meaningful to contribute to the conversation, move along.

We will not have this devolve into thread hijacking and flaming of other posters.

@Gee Wally

We have numerous deletions and more in here. We know tension and emotions are high.
But you folks must simply stop taking personal shots at each. Stay to topic.

If not we will be left with no choice other than adding thread bans.

He did get a larger number than the one Neely blurted out, so it does seem Swayman got more money as a result.
I mean I guess overall, but that’s exactly what a negotiation is. If the rumors are true that he wanted McAvoy money, then he really had to budge from what he was asking.

It wasn’t that far off from Neely’s comment.

So their goaltending tandem is 11.25 million AAV combined? Ouch.

Florida panthers just won a cup with their goalies counting as a higher percentage against the cap last year than swayman/korpisalo going into this year.

Shouldn’t be an issue.

Swayman is a hell of a lot better than Bob too IMO so you’re right in that aspect.

No one is at their final negotiating position at that stage. Bruins left 8.5m in cap space for a reason. That was what they were willing to pay Swayman push come shove.

I can't believe the B's signed such a mentally weak, greedy, Gen Zer who hasn't proven anything. Now picking them to finish 8th because they threw away the team culture....

or is everything cool now and we'll just forget what some people were saying as recently as yesterday?
It’s not over until Neely makes a public apology.

Glad he's signed. Gonna be tough to cheer for a Gen Z whiny bitch though.
If he plays well and they are losing 2-1 /3-2 games he might not be here long, and they will be looking for forward help. If does not play well, they are stuck with one long shitty contract, along with Elias Lindholm.

Yeah, we don't know how intentional and measured Neely's comments were. If Swayman wanted $9M a year and Neely through out $64M to pressure Swayman to take less, then it worked.

It's not a bad number, but I feel like Boston could have done better if they handled Swayman differently from the beginning...arbitration, when they traded Ullmark, Neely's comments...at the end of the day a $750K overpay isn't going to hurt much in years four through eight.

It doesn't feel like a Bruins' discount in any way and Boston used to get those. McAvoy, Pastrnak, Lindholm, Zadorov...all market value or higher.
