Was always a BS reason. It’s like how baseball refuses to put in suspected roid users but votes Big Papi in. If they like you…they’ll put you in anyway. If they don’t…they’ll pretend there’s another reason. Votes should be made public. This is a sham
Always cracks me up when Ortiz gets brought up. There were so many issues with that rumored positive test yet people continue to bring his name up

The Uncanny Valley

I wasn't aware they cleaned up the committee finally. There's actual hockey players with credentials on it now.
The inclusion of Igor Larionov is a welcome surprise. Maybe he has something against AlMo. Of course, a lot has to do with AlMo's hilarious handling of the media who made up all sorts of crap stories about him for giving them such a hard time so brilliantly. His teammates loved him for it.

JR definitely deserves it. Great player and great personality. Was quite a coup getting him into broadcasting and taking the chance on him. This will help put aside him being cancelled for saying silly things he shouldn't have said in this era of broadcast journalism.

So what did Shea Weber do to be a HOFer?
Big Canadian boy.
Markov has similar career stats but is Russian and outproduced Weber (despite being 7 years older at the time) when they played together will never get in for example.
Same for Mogilny. Politics play a role.

Well..sure but he is an important piece of hockey history. His unbelievable tale of escaping Russia opened the door for players like Datsyuk to have hall of fame caree…

Oh wait. That too was the other guy

There he is

Wow its mind boggling how much better Mogilny was than Roenick. The HOF people need to be replaced.

Russia sucks for ukraine, that is an easy fact.

But Russians have always been discriminated against in the NHL, especially by Canadian media/fans. They have always been jealous of their Russian counterparts.

Not a great class but I don't have an issue with any of them going on. At least they didn't do four just because they could.

YES FOR ROENICK JR SUPERSTAR SO UNDERRATED literally a good argument for second best center in the early nineties in literally one of the most stacked periods ever

wtf snubbing Zetterberg again??? Datsyuk and Z should have gone in together

personally don't really care about Weber and wouldn't put him in over Z or Mogilny but congrats to him and his fans as well

Mogilny will always get snubbed, like who is clearly more talented in terms of finesse skills than him in the last 40 years of hockey history? Lemieux and that's it?
At this rate Alex Kovalev will go in before Mogilny does.

Wow... JR finally gets in, eh?

Outside of a Silver Medal in 2002 what did Roenick ever accomplish?

He gets in because of big compiled goal and point totals like numerous other players (Ciccarelli, Gartner, Andreychuk, Turgeon etc).

But at least he was a big name in hockey and one of the better centres in the League for a bit. I think he would have been inducted sooner if not for his controversies. He was clearly the level of player that meets the standard for induction. Many seem to think that standard should be higher.

Weber was running up 2 Norris votes by 12 and 9 voting points. If he was a 2x Norris winner, which just could of been 1 voter each year ticking his box differently, would he be viewed as he's being viewed by some?

It says a lot that they left out two of the safest but most productive players of their generation in Z and Elias in favor of two less impactful, narrative-driven, overrated players in Roenick and Weber.

And Colin Campbell being in tells you exactly how self-aware this voter base is.
Big miss on Weber.

Everyone is forgetting the many years Weber was considered a top 5 dman in the league. There were even years he was considered the best or second best.

He’s not much different than a Keith or Doughty who are both locks for the HOF. Weber played for a mediocre team though.

This was his first year eligible, he was selected "right away".

I know, but first year eligibility is relatively meaningless in the hockey hall of fame (unlike with baseball), and the complaints are that he got in not that he got in right away. My point was that while it wouldn’t have been a surprise if he didn’t get in right away, as he’s not a Crosby, Jagr, Ovechkin, etc type pick, it shouldn’t be surprising that he got in at all, because there was a high certainty that would, whether it was this year or the next couple. He’s not a reach by the usual standards.

The outrage over Mogilny is just baffling to me. Ask 2003 HFboards if Mogilny is a HHOFer and people would have laughed at you. Now it's a crazy snub that he's not in?

On the other hand Weber (like most Dmen) is underrated. Any forward with 2 1st Team All-Star and 2 2nd Team All-Star nods would be seen as a mortal lock to make the Hall first ballot. Yet people are surprised Weber is in? He's the best Dman to be inducted in almost a decade.

Mogilny is not a snub. The only way he gets in is if you’re playing the “can I think of anyone better than this terrible inductee” game. In reality he had 2 HHOF-relevant seasons and was otherwise not a genuine star in the league.

As soon as they give in on Mogilny, it’ll be on to the next weak candidate who is suddenly an outrageous snub even though we’re not talking about him at all yet.

Us MOGheads are a passionate bunch, maybe sometimes we come across loud or rude, but that's because we love our MOGGOD (Mogilny) so much.
