Confirmed with Link: Jeff Petry (50% retained) traded to DET for Gustav Lindström and conditional 4th-round pick in 2025 (later of Detroit or Boston's pick)

Considering the first trade and then the flip of Petry. It's pretty amazing that we got any type of value back for Hoffman and Pitlick. That value being a 2nd, 4th a decent back up that can too be flipped and a fringe NHL RHD ; I'd say that's just Amazing.

Went Wughes strikes again.
Lindstrom will have a good long look at camp, he'll see this as a perfect occasion to be a regular in the NHL and SHOULD, bring his A game.

Yeah that’s not a great return at 50% retention. Unless Lindstrom has some kind of upside that shows beyond his stats.

I’m sure Petry’s thrilled but I’m not lol. I would’ve sooner kept him. Yzerman taking full advantage of the fact that Petry really wanted to be in that area.

The whole thing was still a win but it could’ve been much more imo. Bit of a waste.

We lost cap space in 24-25, 2.3m. Do you really think it’s great?
I do not. We could have ridden out Hoffman and sat him if he did not perform.

This is so bad that I wonder if Hughes had a deal in place for Petry that fell through suddenly and unexpectedly. It is absolutely not like him to have added cap hit for next year.

Somehow through this all we have ended up with a logjam at D again. Harris, Barron, Guhle and Xhekaj are all waiver exempt so don't be surprised to see someone starting in Laval.

The puzzling thing is we are making a divisional rival better. Maybe we are trying to Pollock the division to force a good pick.

I don't know about 'much' more. But I find it underwhelming for sure.

Lindstrom doesn't beat out our top 6 so this is pretty awful. Detroit were very close to us in goals against and most of our guys missed half the season. He wasn't even able to crack their lineup and had the second worst +/- after Chiarot.

I assumed there was no retention but you are all mentioning it.

Petry probably couldn't agree to come back here.
He's about equal as a player to Kovacevic but a completely different style.. and a style they don't really need so.. yeah don't seem him as an every day guy.
