Confirmed with Link: Jeff Jackson (McDavid's now former agent) named Oilers CEO of Hockey Ops

Other than XB he got value out of every first.

He hit on Broberg, Holloway and Schaefer and then paired the latter with a first for ekholm.. That's a good five years imo

Late picks are a fluke occurrence. Chia killed it in late rounds, it's rolling dice. Nill knew when he took WJohnston imo. So Holland was decent in 4/5 years. All 4 players were toolsy and raw as well, so it was scouting and projections.
They’re not a fluke occurrence. Most teams get at least one good player out of the later rounds every so often. Who’s the last good player we got outside the first round? Brodziak?

This team is abysmal at drafting which means we consistently have to rely on trades and signings and we aren’t great there either.

Ryan McLeod? Ethan bear had a solid run, desharnais was a good hit for a 7th rounder.

The two best nhl players we drafted in the later rounds recently were Marino and Kesselring and we didn’t manage to sign either of them.

From watching this team the last few I’ve always felt like theres something a bit off with the team. Not sure if its lack of accountability from top down, leadership problem or something else. I was hoping that Jackson would come in, with his experience of being an agent, and make the organization more cohesive and kind of bring everyone together. Instead hes made things worse lol

He somehow managed to top that by trading a 1st for the waste of oxygen that is Adam Henrique. And Jeff Jackson somehow one-upped him by re-signing this loser instead of just locking down Holloway/Broberg.
They got fooled by the team's performance in the Finals by the bottom six players. Janmark/Brown/Henrique are all garbage again.

Still cant beleive this 2 clowns, Jackson and Bowman spent a week sitting in the office looking at the Broberg and Holloway offer sheets and came away with matching niether and replacing them with Podkolzin and Emberson.

What the actual fxxx ...

we have a thread covering that. THe moment the offer sheets were signed they were gone. We may have been able to Halloway but Broberg. But it should have never come to that. It was clear Broberg wanted out and we should have moved him at the draft for the pick we got from Philly. But we didnt. Or moved him for something else.

WE did not have the money to sign them. You can do all the math you like by saying waive or trade X Y Z but the problem would be team trading for them and not forcing us to take contracts back

Oilers SHIT THE BED by not signing them first before going wild on JUly 1st-

You are 100 percent correct. The question is what is wrong? Maybe some deadline adds can bring some much needed life/energy to the group

He is there just to make sure McDavid gets his $132,000,000 extension while his play falls off a cliff.

He’s proven his scouts suck, his judgment sucks and his signings have all sucked.

He set us back 5 years in two weeks doing more damage in a shorter period of time than Chiarelli managed in 3 years.

If this TDL isn't amazing Jeff Jackson sure screwed up BAD.

How do you take a team that went to game 7 of the final and change it up so much????????

Nuge Mcdavid Hyman
Holloway Drai Arvidsson
Janmark Rico Brown
Podkolzin Ryan Perry

^^^^
This would have been an appropriate line up back in the Summer. Nobody knew Arvy's game was this bad and we needed a winger after Debrusk screwed us. Holloway should have been signed Immediately. Upgrade the 4C at the deadline. Kane back for playoffs.

How can one sign Jeff Skinner when that costs you the cap for Holloway? Especially how Mcdavid said we need Skinner to dig in (He didn't even like the signing)

I now understand.

Jackson learned the ropes as an assistant GM for the Toronto Maple Leafs, when John Ferguson Jr was the GM. On the scale of incompetence, he made Tambo and Pistol Pete look like Sam Pollock.

It makes so much sense now.
