Other than XB he got value out of every first.

He hit on Broberg, Holloway and Schaefer and then paired the latter with a first for ekholm.. That's a good five years imo

Late picks are a fluke occurrence. Chia killed it in late rounds, it's rolling dice. Nill knew when he took WJohnston imo. So Holland was decent in 4/5 years. All 4 players were toolsy and raw as well, so it was scouting and projections.
They’re not a fluke occurrence. Most teams get at least one good player out of the later rounds every so often. Who’s the last good player we got outside the first round? Brodziak?

This team is abysmal at drafting which means we consistently have to rely on trades and signings and we aren’t great there either.

Ryan McLeod? Ethan bear had a solid run, desharnais was a good hit for a 7th rounder.

The two best nhl players we drafted in the later rounds recently were Marino and Kesselring and we didn’t manage to sign either of them.

From watching this team the last few I’ve always felt like theres something a bit off with the team. Not sure if its lack of accountability from top down, leadership problem or something else. I was hoping that Jackson would come in, with his experience of being an agent, and make the organization more cohesive and kind of bring everyone together. Instead hes made things worse lol

Still cant beleive this 2 clowns, Jackson and Bowman spent a week sitting in the office looking at the Broberg and Holloway offer sheets and came away with matching niether and replacing them with Podkolzin and Emberson.

What the actual fxxx ...

we have a thread covering that. THe moment the offer sheets were signed they were gone. We may have been able to Halloway but Broberg. But it should have never come to that. It was clear Broberg wanted out and we should have moved him at the draft for the pick we got from Philly. But we didnt. Or moved him for something else.

WE did not have the money to sign them. You can do all the math you like by saying waive or trade X Y Z but the problem would be team trading for them and not forcing us to take contracts back

Oilers SHIT THE BED by not signing them first before going wild on JUly 1st-
