You know Torts is itching to slot Bickel in for 3rd line centre duties and 15 minutes a night.

Should be.

He's looked most comfortable at center. He was at his best when he was with Kreider/Callahan and Gaborik/Callahan.

If JT Miller is on your roster, let alone 3rd line center, your team is probably in the lottery.

I just have a feeling a bigger move is coming.
56% FO is a valuable asset to any team fighting for the playoffs or during the playoffs. They could have gotten a decent pick for him at the deadline, then move Miller to 3C.
They are acting like they didn't want, or couldn't afford, to wait.
If it was purely for Asham or a call up, they could have just scratched him.

Only due to Lundqvist.

If they had median league wide goaltending, .909 save percentage, they'd obviously be in the lottery.

So, if JT Miller is on your roster and you don't have any players who play above the median standard for their position you're in the lottery? Yeah, probably, but not because of Miller.

Don't see how anyone could be pleased with literally getting rid of a forward when we have ****** depth as it is.

Unless its a precursor for another move

What is the fascination with Halpern by some here? Some of you guys act like he's a real difference maker on this team and he's not that good of a player--he used to be good but he's gotten old. He's not the only forward out there who can penalty kill or take face-offs. WTF!!??! I don't get it. The team is playing like **** so somebody walks the plank and if it continues then some others can walk the plank too. So ****ing what. We all should know who our top 6 forwards are--Nash, Gaborik, Richards, Callahan, Stepan and Hagelin. Not one other forward we have is really capable of stepping into one of those slots if one of those top 6 gets injured. Not one of our bottom line forwards has played well this year--and that's why Miller got rushed to the NHL. And in the meantime Richards has played like **** as well.

The Rangers did not score a lot last year either but they won a lot and one reason was they could roll 4 lines and get a decent forecheck even from the 4th line. That put other teams on their heels. This year both the 3rd and 4th lines are almost always missing--meaning there's no sustained momentum from one shift to the next and that it has to constantly be regained by those top two lines and frankly some of those top 6 guys are soft players.

Tell you what--this is a dog eat dog business--there's only so much room for sentiment when making personnel decisions. When a team is underachieving as much as this team is then hard decisions need to be made and truly Halpern is not that hard. I'm not liking this team very much right now and apart from Lundqvist, Callahan, Staal, Girardi, McDonagh, Del Zotto, Stepan, Nash, Hagelin, the kids Miller and Kreider and maybe Stralman the rest will not be missed if they don't finish out this season with us.

15 pages on Jeff Halpern...LOL . Find a way to have Haley and Asham in every game and we will do better...after we get rid of Torts . Richards will be better with Torts gone...and possibly Gabby too .

When Zuccarello is a solution, you're just not a quality hockey team.

More like he's a band aid for the level of stupidity this team carries in terms of hockey IQ. It seems like outside of richards, gaborik, nash, stpean and cally none of the forwards know anything but grinding it out on the boards.

Yea let's just discount what Stepan, Nash, Hagelin, Del Zotto, and Callahan have contributed to this team :shakehead.

Meh, those are all secondary guys. If you put Biron or another average goalie instead of Lundqvist this year, the team is probably a lock for 29th or 30th. The team's backbone has always been Henrik ever since he entered the league. That probably won't ever change.

Miller was mediocre in the AHL this year.

This is like the Isles putting up Nino last year.

if he doesnt get claimed, watch him get traded. and watch another move happen.. otherwise this dont make sense... Halpern shown more than Boyle...

I like Halpern and all, but at the end of the day he was just a body. He didn't provide offense or any toughness. So I can see why this move was made. Pyatt you're next.

hes so bad.. why dont we trade him..

come on man no way, what game are you watching?

hes a raw talent and has potential.. plays well defensively had created nice chances last game.. why is everyone always so negative.. please pick another sport/team to watch..

how is that a bad thing?

goalies win champsionships.. look at every team that won.. theyre goalie was amazing, and stood on their head when they were needed most.. most are venzia winners.. your comments are irrational and should be at a minimum bc you have no idea what your saying or talking about.. Nash, callahan.. secondary scoring/guys.. thats a slap in the face and saying bickel is a stud top 4dman.. both are insulting.

pick a different team and sport to to watch/talk about.. you havent got a clue..
