Gaborik trade was good, but Cally, we ended up with no assets from that deal a year and a half later, plus we gave TB our 1st rounder.

The defense needed a puckmover, and still does !

The Yandle deal was awful, he was not a factor on the PP and his defense was suspect. If the offense was there no one would've cared much of his defensive shortcomings.
In 2015-16, with Yandle on the ice, they scored 5-on-4 every 7:59. Without Yandle, they scored every 12:33.

Losing faceoffs on the PP sucks, but its hardly the be all end all.

The bigger issue is that they didn't know what to do with the puck once they got things set up. Winning a few draws isn't going to change that.

You just said it, a team that has huge issues getting it going on the PP is not helped by losing the first 15 seconds of the PP retrieving the puck and setting back up.

2015 stats : 3 assists in 21 regular season games, 0 pp points in 5 playoff games.
Just to be clear, the sample you're using is the regular season after the trade in the 2014-15 season and the playoffs of the 2015-16 season?

I'm always fascinated by the people that think winning that extra 1 in 20 faceoffs is the answer.

Not re-signing Yandle just might have something to do with not having cap space available due to the traffic cones that are currently eating up $11.5 million or so of the Ranger salary cap. I could be wrong, but, I don't think so.

Not relevant. They still chose not to resign him after paying premium price.

no cap space. Rangers reached out with interest before heading into the off season and informed the Yandle camp that they were going to try and find a way even if the chances aren't high that they can clear out the cap space with both Staal and Girardi signed to $11M combined.

Either way, thats horrible asset management. Management knew what they were getting into.

Yes, AV and anyone else who might see them as good defensemen, are indeed wrong, but who cares so long as they take them? What is your point?
That it seems a little odd that you would spend the whole year trashing them as "the worst" but when it comes to trading them, suddenly they have found some sort of value that others would trade for. Seems to me either you were wrong that they are AHL quality or you believe that NHL GMs are just simply not as preseptive as you. In the case of the latter, I suggest you send your resume to the NHL as quickly as possible.
Worst farm system in the NHL is your opinion, and also irrelevant.
Where would you rank it in your opinion?
It doesn't have to be a first round pick or equivalent prospect, but even if it does take that, then that is what it takes to clean up the stupid mess made by bad management.
So again, you are bribing another team with assets as a way to help you clean up your own mess? I just want to make sure I got this.
Assets are to be used to make your team better, whether it is through the draft or through a trade. Getting rid of Staal or Girardi fits that criteria.
Just curious when you have last seen assets put to such use. If the answer is never, then that should probably tell you that it is a pretty awful idea as opposed to creative out of the box thinking.
As long as we agree.

Again, horrible asset management, the guy barely made a dent.
Agreed. Paid a fortune to get him, misused him and then lost him for absolutely nothing. The only thing missing was to send Florida a first round pick to ensure that they sign him.

we didnt resign him, that should tell you something.

Again, horrible asset management, the guy barely made a dent.
So you're criticizing the front office with one side of your mouth, and then using their move as confirmation of your opinion with the other?

And again, if he didn't make a dent, I'll take the absence of dent making any day. No one in the past five seasons have had more PP points with the team than Yandle last season. The last person to do so did it in 125 more PP minutes than Yandle.

No because they still did a pretty good job at regaining entry and getting things set up.

They had no idea wtf to do after they did that.

Again, winning a face off is not going to change that.

Nope, you assumed that. They are afterall allowed to cut their losses after assessing his play.

All those 'unforgettable' pp points, which one was your favorite? :D
