I think Jayden Struble is a lock with top 4 potential.

Hutson Reinbacher
Guhle Barron
Xhekaj Mailloux
Struble
Engstrom

I think with Struble playing the way he does. He has more offensive potential than Jordan Harris. Both are very good players. But we don't have that Xhekaj player we need in the playoffs. Mailloux I'm not sure yet. Mailloux and Engstrom one of those guys will round out the pair.

Yup, Orvil was fantastic in training camp and in the few games he played in preseason. Kid has a bright future
My feeling moving forward is that Guhle, Struble and Reinbacher are the top 3.

Mailloux, Barron and Engstrom are fighting for spots 4 and 5. Two guys only will make it, the third one traded. I suspect Engstrom is the guy that will be on the outs, since he is a left-handed D and we have many. However, Barron and Mailloux will need to shore up their D.

Xhekaj and Hutson are required specialists that need to be on the team, but serving as the 6D and 4th line winger option every game. I think the team will always dress seven defensemen, with Xhekaj serving as the 6D to protect a lead, play against physical teams, or on the PK second pairing, while Hutson will play the full two minutes QBing the PP, and be on the backend when we are trying to come back from behind. They will swap spots during the game between winger and defenseman depending on the score. Because of injuries to the defense during the season, both these guys will likely end up playing 65+ games on D.

Harris will be traded, or not re-signed.

The vets (Matheson, Savard and Kovacevic) will also be traded in the last year of their contracts.

He's had the swagger from his first warm-up. He legit hasn't looked uncomfortable one second since being called up. The only D I can remember like that was Subban.

I think he's sticking around for a long, long time.

He really moves a lot like PK. It’s not a race thing. Saw it when he was drafted. Love the Greek Freak

Yup and it’s not even comparable - Struble has smooth turns and edgework, Subban powered his way w edgework, and didn’t possess anywhere near the pace or natural truculence as a player

Subban was always a poor skater who relied on enormous lower body strength to twist around players in the neutral zone but his stride was extremely clunky and he would often stumble when transitioning into a back skate. It was always a sad site when a forward would pull away from his slow *** after turning the puck over. The Rangers made him look awful against us while McDonagh dominated and showed why he P.K. was so grossly overrated.

I'll just leave this here and let people decide what type of insults to throw at you.

Sorry but you lost credibility trying to convince anyone that Subban was a poor skater. I remember watching Trevor Timmins right after the 2007 draft when he said Subban was an elite skater.

No, you just lack the ability to judge skating. I actually have watched Subban play while sitting with scouts, and have spoke to training partners as well as one of his agents and they are all in agreement......at least privately lol.

But do continue to tell me how I am wrong on this :help:

FWIW I think If our coaching staff feel we have a better chance winning games by playing Struble they may force HuGo's hand. A lot of people are gob smacked by his play and we are not in the business of coddling anyone. I don't think playing any of the likely candidates over him will suddenly increase their value.

oh yes of course that must be it. Subban had incredible agility and angles. He was a uniquely talented skater whose strengths in those areas made up for a lack of top end speed. He definitely slowed down but your statement is false.

Strube is better than Ramonov

Agree.

I am not sure Struble has top pairing upside. But it is not a problem as we have Guhle and Hutson.

In my opinion, Struble is a lock as a 2nd pair LD, 3D type. Will play ~20min high quality minutes and lots of PK. Moves the puck well and is remarkably a better version of Romanov with the same but better intangibles.
