Struble was better than Harris, Barron, Matheson and Kova combined. His skating is great and he played a very solid safe game.
Not sure about that, maybe an exaggeration, but good projection for Struble.

Yannick Weber played 500 NHL games. Probably 1/3rd of the league could use a depth guy like Harris.
Not good to sell Harri short?!!

He is a very good depth defenseman at a very reasonable price. Has not reached his peak yet. Good third pairing/depth D in only his second year!

I see struble as a Darnell Nurse lite version. He is uber-athletic and strong. Just needs to play within his strengths and resist the urge to play stupid.

He played well last night. Didn't do too much. Had a good rush. Didn't try to skate the puck out of trouble. Big learning curve but he has some good bottom pairing potential.

Oh god

I see good bottom D potential, for sure. I would trade Harris over anyone 100%.

Habs need D like Xhekaj and Struble in their system, good passing ability and being physical, it's a huge piece to have in a defensive group!

Lol... why would anyone want Harris?
He's good enough to have value.

he's going to be better defensively, Nurse is a awful defensively.

I could see him being our number 7 next year rather than getting moved for a low return.

There are always injuries. So if he can keep developing and getting better, it may be best to move him in the future. I don't think his value is high. But I also don't see him being a part of the future, other than as a 7D.

You came to this conclusion after one NHL game?

I was replying to a post about Harris and talking about Jordan Harris.

It's going to be crowded. There's not going to be room for everyone to start the year. So I could see Harris starting the year as the 7th Dman if he doesn't have much trade value, instead of being given away for peanuts.

Matheson - Barron
Guhle - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Kovacevic/Struble
Harris

Even if Savard is traded, we likely have 8 dmen on the roster if Reinbacher makes it. And many think Hutson is in plans. So I could definitely see Harris as the number 7. I have no idea where Struble will be. Definitely need to see more, and who Hughes decides to move, and what happens with Reinbacher and Hutson, etc...

For the value they'd bring back, it would be interesting to trade Matheson, Savard, and Kovacevic, and next year go:

Guhle - Reinbacher
Struble - Barron
Xhekaj - Harris
Lindstrom, Norlinder

With Hutson, Mailloux, Engstrom, and Trudeau as the top 4 in Laval. But I want to see if Matheson can round out his game.

He's going back down once everyone is healthy. He might stay longer than Norlinder/Lindstrom, but Barron was sitting in the stand when everyone was healthy. So there is no place for Stroob with even more LDs around.

Hughes will have to trade more dmen...
Hughes very soon will have to make room for guys like Struble. He isn't there just yet.

Well, if Hutson is going to be in one of the top 3 LD spots, one of Guhle, Matheson, and Xhekaj has to get traded. I would think it would be Matheson.

I think Xhekaj will have to also be effective at RD (3rd pair of course) in order to be a regular in the lineup and not subbed in/out based on matchup (in 2-3 years).

I liked his game yesterday but it will be a long shot with all the LD's ahead of him. Even Jackeye might have trouble sticking once Hutson signs. Matheson and Guhle aren't going to be a staple on the left side for the next 5 years at least.

HuGo is going to have some serious trade capital in a couple of years.

Mathesons contract doesn't even run three more years, let alone five, nd I doubt he's re-signed long term at 32 years old for a guy whose entire game is skating focused.

Guhle does have the top pairing spot locked in. The rest is open, nobody is a lock.

With what Xhekaj brings I think he is a lock in the top 6 longterm. Players that bring what he does are rare.
