I hope he gets a good opportunity with us before if we are going to flip him eventually
It's going to be fun to watch him this year in Laval.

It sounds like he has the skating and the physicality and nastiness. Now we have to see his processing speed, first in the AHL, then the NHL.

Very hard to see him play in the NHL. He has 0 offensive skill. At best, he will be a bottom shut down defensive player. Is a shame, he is not 6ft4. Struble and Wifi would have been a scary physical duo. Right now, his potential is #6 or #7

I don't see how that shows that Struble did not get better? He got much better as his defensive game is miles ahead of where it was in his 1st two seasons and is is not possible to lose skill at that age. He is just a perfect example of why stats are useless without context.

I agree that Harris was a better NCAA player but I am not at all convinced that he will ultimately be a better NHLer than Struble. I like both of them so I don't want to pit one against the other.

Time will tell and I am certainly not guaranteeing that Struble will be a 30+ point player but I do submit that his stats misrepresent his potential.
I like them both, but I don’t see any way Struble is better than Harris at any time in any league. It just doesn’t jive.

he's way more skilled than the stats shows
I believe Struble is one of the prospects with the highest chance of playing 100+ NHL games.

My list of guys with less than 20 NHL games to date and a more than 50% chance is:
Reinbacher
Roy
Engstrom
Heineman
Kapanen
Struble
Dobes
Condotta

I expect Jayden Struble to be a man amongst boys during this rookie tournament. Don't underestimate this player.
I keep saying it "There is something about this Guy".
He has an excellent chance of becoming a full fledged member of our "WarChest".
Like Harris he will definitely have value in a package deal somewhere down the road if he doesn't stick as nasty depth.

Beck, Roy, Trudeau, Mailloux are all great bets to reach 100 games and all much more so than Condotta who is barely an average AHLer.

Struble is proving my take from last spring right. Again, the most undervalued player in the whole pipeline. He is close to the NHL.

Strange to see no comments on Struble since his debut with Laval. I saw two games and I liked him a lot. He did not look overmatched in any ways. He made a seamless transition to the AHL level. Yes it's a very small sample, but I really like what I saw of him in these two games. I would even dare to say that he is not far from the NHL. Habs are in a position to be patient with him, but at only 21, he is a very legit prospect. Heineman is a proof that stat watching from a league to another can be misleading. I think that for a defense first D, watching stats can be even more misleading.

If ever Hughes receive an offer he can't refuse from Xhekaj and trade him, it may be because he thinks Struble can replace him on the bottom pair. Not a fighter like Xhekaj, but maybe a higher potential.

Loving it!!! Been rooting for Jay Struble since our Habs drafted him.

We'll be much tougher/better with Struble.

It's been a loooong looooong time since we've had so many solid d-men prospects in our system!!

Guhle - Matheson (if he can play on the RIGHT side?)
Struble - Savard/Matheson
Xhekaj - Kovacevic
Harris

Can Struble play on the RIGHT side? (I'd keep him on the LEFT side to give him time to gain NHL experience).

Xhekaj is better offensively, defensively and a fighter. There is no comparison to make with Struble. Struble lack offensive side of his game, I doubt he will be more than a 5,6th dman in the NHL

At this point it's Harris that raises some question marks. His camp was not good, and his first two games were not either. We'll see, maybe he will improve, but to me he seems limited by his size and overall lack of strenght. That being said, it will take time to have a better read on all these young D. I don't see an early trade involving any of them.

Struble looking like the best d.so far in ahl
I think it's interesting that Norlinder, Trudeau and Mailloux have great camps and then the season starts and Beaudin is still the go-to guy for Houle. Not too surprising but I am also not surprised Struble is a guy he would like. I think Struble could still end up a good #5-6 in the NHL but I don't see the puck skills to be more. Physically he might be our most developed prospect and that was part of what attracted Bergevin and Timmins to him.

Pretty glad we kept Reinbacher away from Houle to be honest, I think the off-ice development seems to be better in Laval which is fine for guys who have already played tons.
