Remember all the jokes about the “easiest job in hockey” being the backup goalie on a team with a Brodeur, Kiprusoff, Luongo, etc?
Turns out it’s actually being the goalie coach for the Edmonton Oilers. Not only do you never ever have to do anything (even the backups had to start a handful of games) but you also have zero accountability when the area you’re responsible for is also the teams biggest weakness for your entire employment duration.
Whatever “in” Schwartz has, has got to be huge, because this organization has made a lot of questionable moves that were pretty blatantly based on nepotism, but this one might be the most blatant of all.
