Confirmed with Link: Jason Arnott fails physical; Deal with NYR off

Plus he always was able to handle himself...did not anybody to protect him ! I hope he is in alright shape ...but expect it will take a few games . I think we are fixing the roster slowly but surely .

soooo... who makes space for him on the roster? Gilroy or Bickel getting sent to Hartford?

Probably Kreider, Gilroy, and Halpern down.

Leaving us with Bickel and that dude we got from the Pens as our 2 scratches.

I think Pyatt's ultimate spot is on the third line. I also don't think we're going to see a ton of games with Rupp and Asham both in the lineup.

BINGO ! That pretty well nails it Tawnos ! Also we should not underestimate the leadership factor . We have a lot of young guys and our big gun guys like Gabby/Richie/Nash are not IMO great leaders and Cally has a lot on his shoulders with that .

I don't know how anybody can not be happy about this. Adds size, toughness, leadership, and DEPTH. Maybe even faceoffs (too lazy to look).

Ferriero is the most likely candidate to go down after Arnott joins the team I would think
23 man squad for a while
Do not think they expose Halpern or Gilroy to waivers (probably both would pass)
Kreider (waiver exempt) might go down later
Plenty of cap space left though

Its pricey, but we weren't in a bargaining position. We needed help in the bottom six.

Plus, we were bargaining against the Flyers, apparently.

I think a lot of the regular posters around here were probably aware of how distinctly uncomfortable I've been about the makeup of our bottom-6 pretty much since the Nash trade. With Arnott, and depending on how Ferriero fits, I'm mollified on that front for now. We'll see how/if it comes together, but I'm feeling better on the roster construction front for now.

I don't mind this pickup at all. Arnott is a solid veteran.

Yes. Now all Sather needs to do is to find the new Sean Avery/Brandon Prust somewhere for cheap out there in a trade and we are set.
Need an undiscovered agitator on this team that can skate, hit, fight and score like the 2 guys mentioned did.
To light up the Garden
And get to Fatso ;)
I think they wanted Haley to be that guy, but it seems it is not working out.
Go get em Glen!
And - of course - we also need a UFA defender picked up at the deadline...
And another D man down in CT, missed that one

Seems like he has a greater chance of playing tonight than we're being led to believe? How long does a physical take? Tops 45 min? It would be cutting it close but if all the paper work is signed and Torts thinks he's conditioned enough I wouldn't be surprised to see him.
