Confirmed with Link: Jason Arnott fails physical; Deal with NYR off

who cares how steep it is for 1 year. we got a ton of cap space right now.

contract is basically meaningless as its only for one year

I've been talking about doing something like this for months and Arnott's name always comes to mind first. I know some guys are going to roll their eyes and say he's done, but I think he can contribute to our bottom-6. Not expecting a ton out of him.

He did put up 17 goals and 34 points (14 on the PP) on 14 minutes of ice time over 72 games last season. Tertiary penalty killer.

We will see if he has anything left in the tank. If not? He rides the pine. No big deal.
Exactly. No risk move that can only help - and in particular addresses one of the team's biggest weaknesses (faceoffs).

It's a solid move. He's very slow but he'll help out on the PP and could be a great mentor for Kreider.

Gaborik-Richards-Nash
Pyatt-Stepan-Callahan
Kreider-Arnott-Hagelin
Rupp-Boyle-Asham

looks alot better if Kreider can get back on track and if Arnott works out.

I think Pyatt's ultimate spot is on the third line. I also don't think we're going to see a ton of games with Rupp and Asham both in the lineup.

1.7 is a bit high, but for one year, there isn't too much to complain about. I like Arnott on the 3rd line, especially since Miller isn't NHL ready yet. With Arnott on the 3rd line I wouldn't mind seeing any of the wingers on this team playing alongside him. I always had a problem seeing Callahan, Hagelin, Kreider or really anyone besides Pyatt playing with Boyle.

Not a fan of this move.

I didn't watch the Blues at all last year, but the Blues fans here on HF all say that Arnott is DONE.

He can't skate any more and needs sheltered minutes to have any semblance of effectiveness. The only thing I can see him contribute is a good shot on the PP.

What would Arnott be like on a PP unit ? Can't be much worse then what we have now . Big guy for the crease on the 2nd unit ?

I think the most important part about Arnott is that, assuming he's got gas left in the tank, he isn't going to look horribly out of place on the 2nd line if we have injury issues. Not ideal, but more ideal than Boyle being up there (again, not a bash on Boyle).

Triggerman. He's still got a rocket of a shot. Would like to see to see him at the point. Especially on the 5 on 3.

Him playing the point is a risky move. He's REALLY slow now. It could spell a bunch of shorthanded breakaways for the other team. I'd put him on the wall down low where he can still use his rocket of a shot.
