Wouldn't mind Weiss, brings speed and offensive creativity and I think would fit in here in this system. The kind of player Tortarella would want. Underrated defensively, I think. Not amazing defensively by any means, but better than the credit he's given.

ROR however, I would LOVE to have ROR. I'd trade Stepan for him.

ROR is in Russia  He wants a BIG contract. No way fiscally.

Avs do not have him to a contract.

But I agree. I'd trade Step and a late 1st round for him.

I have to admit I would do the same. Regardless of how much he wants, which is somewhere upwards of 5m per I think. For a smidgen less he would be absolutely perfect for us.

Subban is not worth the trade assets, contract value, and most importantly, the negative impact and implications said contract will have on resigning our own RFAs and UFAs.

and WTH Arnott.

It would conceivably put us over the top for the next two years though.

edit: just playing d.a., not saying we should give up the assets/money. just saying why it would be possible.

Ryan O'Reilly, Avs top line center last year.

Don't know much about him. Doesn't seem to be the type of guy we need though. We need depth, not another higher profile player. 1st line center with a high price tag is the last thing I would think we need.

Should look more for veteran with grizzliness in my opinion.

Shame about Arnott. Think he could have improved the team a bit, but an unfit old guy with medical issues is obviously not an alternative.

ROR would be awesome centering Nash and Callahan, but he'd be to expensive.

Only on this board, could there be serious discussion and intent to choose Moore over Subban. Ahhhh, gotta love internet logic...

:shakehead

Well depends on what people think the needs of the team are. Moore and Subban don't exclude each other.

But I don't know why people are even talking about Subban being a possible candidate. I don't see him coming to the Rangers. Maybe then Torts would play the 3rd pairing for more than 4 minutes, but where did this Subban to NYR talk even begin? It's just fantasy talk at the moment.

Arnott had a knee and shoulder injury last season. He had knee surgery in the summer. There was a 4 month lockout. If the guy is not in shape and it will take him a while to get in shape, that's not going to work. Arnott lives in Dallas. How much skating has he done since last May?

Yes you do. I hate the dude more than anyone. But I can't deny his bomb from the point. It would help out.

It wouldn't solve anything. We all said Gaborik would help solve the PP woes after Jagr left... that was 3 years ago. We all agreed Richards would be the silver bullet on the PP since he is so used to running an effective power play. Then most agreed that Rick Nash would finally be the savior of the god awful NYR power play.

Subban is just another name in a long list of people that we so fickly thought would help the power play. As others have said... it has nothing to do with personnel, its coach and strategery*

YES ****ING PLEASE.

It was a mistake to not bring him back last year. It was a mistake to not bring him back this year.

I think Dallas makes the playoffs this year, so that's probably out of the question.

Real target = Iginla?

Couldn't agree more. He would have been the perfect player. Can still create offense, would get 3rd line minutes, and would give us 2 lethal pp units (not that they would be used properly).

You are not playing DA because 4 pages ago you were advocating it. It would basically cost our entire farm team. Kreider, Miller, McIlrath + Dman + god knows how many picks...

All for a guy who is the most cocky, selfish and over rated player in the league. I am NOT doubting Subbans skills, I am doubting the amount of potential he has left and believe he has maxed out. Maybe my extreme hatred for him gets in the way, I dunno.

subban would be in torts' doghouse before he even steps foot on a plane to come to NY. His booming point shot is the least of our worries on the powerplay since we get plenty of shots off but our cycle is conducive to getting them from as far away from the net as possible. If we traded for him again its going to cost us the better part of our entire farm system, hes already one of the most overrated (potential wise) defensemen out there, do not want him to be the most overpaid wearing ranger blue.

I read he was skating with some of the Stars players during the lockout.

But that wasnt enough I guess.

Not overly disappointed. The guy can't skate very well anymore. If people think Boyle is slow, they should have seen Arnott last year BEFORE HIS KNEE SURGERY.

Moore would be ideal. I doubt he will play this season though.

Again... Ur a good poster.

Line prop... W out arnott.

Every single one I've thought of or seen is better w him

I guess I'm not understanding your point. I don't care how the team looks on paper. I care what they do on the ice. And I don't see a huge difference between this team on the ice and how they look on paper with an injured and aging Arnott.
