Malkin looked like Malkin because he's at that point in his career where he needs the right help to have that kind of impact. You set him up to succeed like you set up Sid to succeed, and lo and behold . . .

Jarry looked like Jarry because they played in front of him like they played in front of him when Sid was out. Smart plays. Structure. Support. Doing their damndest to protect the house. Tying up sticks.

Almost like there's a lesson in this . . . you set up Malkin and Jarry to carry you, and they'll help to carry you.
Yeah it has been super frustrating that we hadn't seen Jake and Rust with Geno at all this year. That was one of the top lines in hockey last year. You know there is legit chemistry there.

+ GMR was put together and oh low and behold, the team somehow started to look magically better. You can't ignore the chemistry, no line has looked that dangerous as often as GMR has all season.
+ Ceci goal
+ Jake & Rust and their passing plays
+ Kappy goals.
Agreed been wanted that line together all season

As I said in the GDT, Sullivan has a real problem:

He thinks the Pens have their best chance to win with Jake-Sid-Rust.

The Pens are the type of team they need to be in the playoffs (if they make it) if you get the Geno you get with Jake and Rust.

I think we all know what Sullivan is going to do, but there's a legit argument that it's worth seeing how they look with Sid centering McCann and Kapanen and leaving GMR intact as opposed to reverting to the opposite.

EDIT: Ideally, Hextall could help resolve this with a move, which is what Shero did in 2008 when Geno killed it with the guys who had been 'Sid's wingers'. He's not going to get a Hossa, but with a LD to move, he's certainly got options.

Pens played with pace which has been missing most of the year. Jarry key saves and Geno moving his feet. I hope sully was so mad about the last game he has seen enough of this nonsense. I also hope Hextall has seen enough and is looking a help.

I just can't fathom how anyone can watch that line of Guentzel-Malkin-Rust, and then not keep them together. And know that's what you need to keep together and allow to be the first line, is the pride of catering to Crosby with putting Jake with him greater than team success? It feels like that and that's something that has rubbed me the wrong way all season long to the point where people think it's Crosby hate when it's not.

You literally have a line that gives you a fighting chance every damn game and you purposely choose not to use it, that's pure ignorance. Sid has to sit for 5 days I think, so we'll get to see GMR for another game vs the Flyers, I'm going to enjoy that as much as I can because this coach will find a way to sabotage himself.

Fire him and hire the old Flyers guy Joe Mullen? Flyers PP was money with him.

Or at least make the focus about Malkin moving and supporting all over the place.

That's kind of what they were doing 7-10 days ago, and it was working. And then they stopped and went back to the same old BS static crap.

I would rather run Sid with Tanev and Kapanen if it means we get to keep GMR. McCann doesn't have chemistry with Sid and he needs to center the 4th line.

That was a real fun hockey game to watch. Everything was eerily alright at least except for Sam Lafferty's discipline (and L4). Jarry, special units, Letang, top 6, Malkin in particular... great. Real great.

Now for the age old questions of "Can they do it multiple hockey games in a row" and "Does it last when the star is back"
