It was just some new info that I came upon and I wanted to pass it along here. As much as I hate everything that TMZ stands for, they are usually pretty on point with this kind of stuff. They don't make crap up just to get hits. I just hope none of the other Kings are pulled into this nightmare. We can't take anymore bad press.

So Stoll had been partying with some of the Kings in the hours before he was busted.

Great, now TMZ is sniffing around the Kings. They won't stop until a bigger, better story comes along. These guys better get their noses clean and keep them that way until all of this blows over.

As conservative as Mr. Anschutz is, if this brings too much bad publicity to the team, some of these guys might find themselves traded to another organization. I know it's naïve to think these 20-somethings don't party with drugs, and some of these guys think there is no harm in using drugs to party, but there is only so much certain owners will put up with.

There really isn't much the Kings can do if there were other King players present. The players are subject to a maximum of two drug tests per a season, meaning after you have been tested the 2nd time you're free to go crazy. Hopefully this Stoll incident forces the NHL to change their drug testing policy which is seriously lacking with the 2 test max system. The reason why virtually no NHL players are popping positive is because their policy is a joke, not because the NHL is a league of clean players.

I didn't know there was a maximum. If what you say is true (no reason to believe it isn't), then that's an incredible built-in flaw that basically allows anyone willing to do so to go crazy in the off-season.

****ing unreal. Who negotiates these things, anyway? Brain-dead lawyers, that's who.

No with the (alleged) libel rules on this site :)

LGK must get sued every other day.

The libel concerns here are getting a bit too much. This is a public bulletin board and opinions are going to be expressed. We basically have non-lawyers trying to determine what is and what is not libel.

That being said, I understand the unintended consequences one can face while making an opinion that can be considered libelous on a public forum. We've already seen some crazy crap this season...one particular tweet that went out about a Toronto players' wife comes to mind.

Bottom line, if you have absolute proof something happened, then you can state it. If you don't, better to keep it to yourself. So your money can stay in your wallet.

SToll isn't the only player using them, and like steriods, (article below) nobody is going to tell.

"It was true that quite a lot of them did use this drug, but other, more talented players did too. Most of us knew who they were, but not a single player, not even me, would ever think of raising his hand to break the silence and accuse a fellow player."

and coke has been a suspected issue with NHL players

It's not the easiest thing to police for a team.

I remember in the late '80s when the Phoenix Suns damn near traded their entire starting 5 over cocaine arrests. Walter Davis wasn't a starter at the time and he was traded as well. Most thought he would retire as a member of the Suns before the drug bust.

Sure it is. You negotiate a deal with the NHLPA that includes unlimited random drug testing throughout the calendar year and you clean up the league. Simple as that. Two-test limit; what a joke. It's like admitting that players will use drugs after the two tests and everyone turns a blind eye.

In theory, it should be that easy, but it won't be. It is especially with a guy like Fehr running the NHLPA. Everything becomes a bargaining chip.
Ok you want more drug testing, we want x, y, or z.

Yup union wouldn't agree to it

They will use arguments that certain players will be harassed, unfairly targeted etc

Bunch of bs...

1. This isn't a public bulletin board. It's a private, for profit, site with very strict rules.
2. You're correct, the moderators are all non-lawyers, so when in doubt, something is removed.

(To everyone)

There's been an undercurrent of general *****ing about the strictness of the site rules here for the last few weeks, and it needs to stop. You're all here voluntarily and you know the rules that you signed up for to post here. If you don't like it, you're welcome to post elsewhere, or send a PM to the admins, but we're not going to allow continued open complaining in the forums. It's against the rules, off-topic, no one wants to read it, and it'll result in infractions from here on.

Meh, the next big battle coming for Fehr is going to be the owners wanting to eliminate guaranteed contracts.

Everything in CBA negotiations is gravitating toward the NFL model. Sure we'll give you a big contract with some guaranteed money up front in a signing bonus, but if you aren't performing two or three seasons into the contract, we'll cut your ass.

Fehr is going to lose that fight as he has lost on all of the major issues he has fought with the NHL owners on.

The Vegas vacation was essentially an unofficial end-of-the-season celebration to unwind and party as a team.

Am I the only one that finds this line absolutely ****ing ridiculous? Celebrating what?

They can use the gold-card system, like they did in the ridiculous lottery show on Saturday.

I can see Daly now. "We have a winner!" as Burrows' name is emblazoned on an oversized gold card.

Or maybe they can have a gold-flaked piss bottle. Even better. Put Burrows' name on the gold-flaked piss bottle and send him to a gold-colored restroom.

I missed it. Good pick up.

But that website is written with such ignorance...every time I read something it really strikes me as some junior high school kid writing the articles.

That's ok if they want to negotiate other parts. But Fehr has to know that the "two-test limit" is just inviting trouble.

I am not sure which league has what I am suggesting, but I do know it exists. Whether its MLB, NBA, or NFL. I don't think there are limits in at least one league.
