only way halak is going to the kings is if brown or gaborik going to islanders and i doubt that is happening. Halak has to much term as the kings need cap space to resign Pearson and Toffoli

Winnipeg isn't trying to trade a goalie, though. They're waiting to see if Helle and Hutch can run with it. Pavy's best asset is that he's got one year left and is a capable back up with loads of NHL experience.

I could have sworn there was a story that Winnipeg was trying to move pave for his sake but maybe it was an unsubstantiated story.

Edit: seems like teams are calling the jets asking about pavelec. Not the jets shopping but it would make sense to capitalize.

i'd be upset if the isles basically threw away the season for a 2nd round pick. maybe i'm selling Greiss short, but I think dealing off Halak indicates they are punting the year.

Considering they've punted the franchise too many times to count why would this be a shock?

I'm surprised by some of the comments on here stating Greiss is nothing special. He is the main reason we beat Florida in the playoffs. He may not have had a good series against Tampa, but I doubt Halak would have been any better. Halak is inconsistent and gets hurt. Not too mention Greiss played more games and had a better Save percentage and GAA. It feels like people are going by their past success and not acknowledging that Greiss had a better season last year.

It's not that he isn't a capable goaltender, sometimes even an outstanding goaltender...But i don't see much of a market out there for Halak at the moment. At least, not in a deal that wouldn't end up sending another significant goaltender contract back the other way...maintaining a 3-headed monster in NYI.

That extra year @ $4.5M on Halak's deal pretty much rules him out as a stopgap or going anywhere that he's not going to be at least a #1b. Really limited places he'd actually "fit".

It's not Greiss versus Halak, which is debatable.

It is Halak/Greiss versus Greiss/Berube, only an idiot I mean Garth Snow would choose the latter

would rather have them claim someone not worth taking then risk them taking Halak

Did you hear the news? Vegas will be able to talk to teams UFA's and if they sign will count as their selection from that team. So Vegas could take King!

Anyone who thinks Walsh went on his rant without Halak prompting him to is out to lunch. Hard to imagine that Halak is happy with the 3 goalie situation.

He was mad about it last year. This is actually the second time Garth had played around with the goalie carousel and both times it blew up in his face. It's inexplicable, and he should know better as a former goalie.

EDIT: I don't blame Walsh for airing it out either.
