Eh, I don't think they'd care. We traded AMac to the Flyers. As long as you're not the Rangers, Penguins, or Capitals, we'd trade you a guy like Halak.

I mean... you would think Snow would have preferred to trade AMac within the division. I'm sure the Rangers would have loved to trade Tanner Glass to the Isles, and we would have loved to give them Strait.

Well it does because he's taking up a roster spot and practice time.

I think he meant "If Berube is nothing special, why not just waive him and not keep him around to mess with the roster?"

From a fringe player that probably stands to benefit more by getting that regular time in the AHL. It's hardly a matter of great importance especially to the point that you rail against a GM.

I know AMac was a disaster his last year here, but nobody expected him to be THIS bad, and I doubt Snow knew Holmgren would sign AMac to that contract. We probably got the best value for AMac from the Flyers. If the Hurricanes offered us the best value (which as this point would be anything) for Jaro, we should take it. I wouldn't care if he's in the division.

I'm not railing him as much as I am confused by him. Waiving Parenteau to keep a roster spot for Berube? Keeping Barzal but only playing 2 games? Something seems off. Nobody can understand what's going through their heads.

Why upset your top 2 goalies to keep around a goalie with backup potential? Snow has proven for a decade he is one of the worst GMs in the league this situation is typical Snow

I doubt it upsets Greiss very much. Berube was only kept around because Halak has durability issues. There's certainly some rationale behind that. And if it is impacting Halak's practicing time, that's more on the coach than anyone else.

After talking to a few teams today, and there is interest from some of them in Jaroslav Halak. #tvasports

Not overly shocking there was talk late last year or early in the off-season about the Isles potentially looking to move him.

Do love how yet another one of Walsh's clients have made it into the media.

Seems like unnecessary drama keeping around 3 goalies when the third guy (Berube) hasn't even shown to be anything special anyways. And if he *was* that special, why not play him?

I don't really understand the move.

It makes no sense STK. The 3 goalie rotation has never been successful as far I could remember. You're right though. If they were that high on Berube then they should be playing him more.

Knowing Snow, he wants to get rid of Halak for not liking the threw goalie system (which Halak is right about).

Honestly, I think Snow's been trying to move Halak for a while, but knows that Halak has to keep playing at the NHL if he hopes to move the contract. And Greiss has been the Islanders' best performing goaltender for the past year+ so he of course gets to play as well, and that leaves Berube as the odd man out until Snow can get someone to bite on Halak.

As a leaf fan I like halak, but sadly there's no logical way we could justify trading for him
From the Eklund thread...

IF you can justify waiving Smith or Griffith or Corrado to run 3 goalies (that's a big IF), you could justify trading Laich + Sparks for Halak pretty easily IMO.
