I thought Russia was the favorite team coming into this tournament and I still think that is the case going into the final. That being said, this year's team Canada is one of the best defensive teams this tournament has seen. If they can keep out of the penalty box, Canada can grind out a win for back to back Gold medals. This will be a close one. GO CANADA GO!!!

Russia 8, Canada 6.

Malkin with the hat trick.

You think Russia will score 8 goals on this Canadian defense?

You think Canada will score 6 goals with their average offense?

It's more of a dream than a prediction. I admit that 4-3 Russia is much more accurate a prediction, but I love high-scoring, out-of-control games. :)

I don't understand all the people thinking Russia's going to walk away with it...I know it was only an exhibition game with no Malkin, but Canada embarassed the Ruskies pretty good 8-1 before the tournament.

That's what prevents me from being too optimistic about team Russia. Though we'll know soon...

This game is going to be the ultimate test for Canada. It is going to show the entire country what this team is really made of.

The D-pairing of Staal and Parent are going to tons of ice time tonight. They'll be on the ice whenever the Malkin line is out there.

Some of the forwards that havn't really done much this Tournament are really going to have to step it up if Canada wants any hope at winning. Especially Cogliano and Pouliot.

And not to mention, Pogge will have to play his best game of the Tournament.

Go Canada!

Russia has a history of losing games that mean NOTHING. Gretzky..Lafleur 81 ? Canada cup reminds me not to take any pre tourney game to seriously. I think we can win if we play a patient defencive game but everyone has to have the game of their lives. We are the underdog but with steller goaltending in a 1 game final. Nothing is impossible. Go CANADA Go 3-1 victory. We must stop the Malkin machine.

If it's a high-scoring game and/or if Canada tries to go end-to-end on Russia, Russia will say "What did the 5 fingers say to the face? SLAP!"

If it is a physical game, Canada will come out on top.

This is all my usually misguided opinion.

This is all questionable... Especially abou the coach
Actually, no, he's pretty much dead on.

Offence: Russia +1
Defence: Canada
Goalie: Canada
Coaching: Canada

Looks like a close game to me.

My prediction: this thread gets closed less than a half hour after the game ends

Interesting tactic by canadians media, team, fans. All of a sudden majority of them are saying Russia is the favorite, Canada will not win this tournament and so forth. Jesus, it is obvious that after Cnada have won the final they will all start bragging again about having a less than stellar team and win it all. It is so predictable. Fans on TSN who say that they will destroy no matter what have more credibility, because it is in their nature to say something like that. That's I can believe. But here it is the mind games. I hope that Russia wins, but I can't tell that they will for certain. Because to play Canada is always difficult. As much as I hate them I can admit it.

What I do not understand, Kitaiskij Lyzhnik, is why you hate them? They are just a rival team, and I am all for the team Russia tonight, but I find no grounds to say I hate Canadians just because we are in the finals.

There you go playing mind games again. Saying a game against Canada will be difficult even though Russia has the far superior team. And once the game ends you'll be bragging again about having a stellar team and destroying Canada.

It's all so predictable. :D

We are not favorites this time and yes we will give you a hard fought game. I am not saying we will not win. I am saying we need to bring our A game and get steller goaltending. The Russians team playing possium in the pre tourney game will not lull us into a false sense of security this time. Say what you will about our "natures" as of course you know best. Give it a rest my friend, if we win it will be without 2 very important 18 yr olds. But of course they are garbage anyway compared to your Malkin machine and probubly dont deserve to be on the same ice with him as i have read from every russian poster.

All of a sudden? Are you kidding me?

Russia, and to a greater extent, the US have been the favorites from the beginning, according to the TSN media.

Besides, listen to the comments by the Russian players. There's no doubt in their minds at all. They know they are the favorites.

Sorry if it hurts to be the favorites, but you'd better believe Canada was last year, and they backed it up. They were also the favorites against the US the year before, but they were upset by the US.

I'm guessing you haven't been following the TSN coverage. When Canada are the favorites, you'll know it. Believe me. They aren't this year, and they haven't been since the beginning.
