My heart says Canada but my head says something else.

I live in Saskatoon (where Khodobin plays) and if Canada is going to win this game they have to get to him early. If they can put in a couple of quick ones, they will take his confidence. He seems to give up if he is rattled early. He is the weak link of this Russian team.

Staal and Parent are going to be played to death tonight. Just wait and see.

Canada is going to have to keep this close also. If they get scored on early, they cannot get rattled and give up another goal because of it. Canada doesn't have the offense to come from behind if they are losing by more than 2 goals. Just keep it close.

Obviously, they are going to have to use the body and a very strong forecheck. Pressure the defense into making mistakes. Oh and take the body on Malkin every chance they get, as they did with Ovechkin last year.

Pfft, the homerism in this thread is shockingly and disgustingly low. Let me raise it.

Canada wins easily. Russia can't like.. skate or shoot.. which are big skills for hockey. Therefore the Canadians.. who have mastered this skill of skating, and shooting win.

5-2 Canada (don't ask me how Russia scores despite not being able to shoot. A banked pass perhaps)

I say 2-2 with 10 mins left in the 3rd. One goal win either way. I think it's a pretty even game, pretty much a 50-50 chance on both sides.

Russia all the way babyyyyyyyyyy !

4:2 Rossija ! SHAIBUUUUUUUU !!!! SHAIBUUUUUUUU !!!! SHAIBUUUUUUUU !!!! :yo:

Russia dismantled the favored team going into this Tournement. It was not even close. Without a real horse in this race, except for liking Malkin, I can be somewhat the outsider looking in and say that you can argue the US team over-rated all you want, that was impressive. Canada has its work cut out for it.

Amazingly, Fox Sports North is airing this game at 11 PM. They are not airing the Bronze medal contest.

Regardless, both teams are very deserving of winning the whole tournament. I think Russia turns it on here, though; Malkin will have...let's just say Malkin will be more like the Malkin I keep hearing about. STUPID PREDICTION: 3-1 Russia.

For Canada to win we'll need to play hard physical hockey, without a steady parade to the penalty box.The Russian PP will kill us if we give them too many opportunities. We dont have the offensive weapons to indulge them in a high scoring game.Shutting Malkin down will be the key to neutralizing their high-powered offense.Even then they still have plenty of firepower, but Sutters sound defensive system should keep them from dominating.I think it will be a close game.
Pogge and whoever(i would try Staal) is chosen to contain Malkin will need to be at their best.I look for one of the unsung types from either team to be the difference maker.Maybe a Lemtyugov or a Chipchura.

I think it will be a very close game. I won't make a prediction but the last two times Canada played Russia in the Gold medal game in Canada the score was the same, 3-2 for Russia.

Maybe I'm losing my touch, but I'm pretty sure that the Canadians beat the Russians in last year's final.

I said in Canada. The game last year was in North Dakota.

Sorry I glossed over the "in Canada" bit.

Anyhow, I think it's fairly apparent this Russian team should win. It would be a definite bogey on their behalf if they didn't. They've got a solid team, led by an outstanding group of forwards, and the advantage of having their big gun playing for them. Everything lines up for a Russian win.

Kessel: "It's suicide! You've seen him, you know how strong he is. You can't win!"
Sutter: "Who are you?"
Kessel: "Maybe you don't know what I'm talking about now, but believe me you will when it's over! You will when it's over!"
Malkin: "You will lose"

Pogge: "No, maybe I can't win. Maybe the only thing I can do is take everything he's got. But to beat me, he's gonna have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's gotta be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that... I don't know."
Toews: "I know you think you're gonna have to do everything by yourself but you know I'll be with you."
Sutter: "You're gonna have to go through hell, worse than any nightmare you've ever dreamed. But when it's over, I know you'll be the one standing. You know what you have to do. Do it."
Pogge: "I'll try."
Malkin: "To the end"

Sutter: "You see?! You see?! He's not a machine, he's a man, he's a man!"
Letang: "I see three of him out there."
Sutter: "Hit the one in the middle."
Letang: "Whatever he hits, he destroys"
Malkin: "I must break you."

Sutter: "MALKIN!!!"

Cherry: "Hey, Champ."
Fetisov: "Hey."
Cherry: "Can I come up?"
Fetisov: "Yeah sure"
Cherry: "Some weather we're having here huh?
Fetisov: "Yeah it's pretty rough."
Cherry: "What's happening out there?"
Fetisov: "He's winning."

Cherry: "There's a lot I could say about this man, but I don't know if it matters now. You always made everything the way you wanted it.Sometimes I didn't understand that, but now I understand. You're the best."
Malkin: "Yeah"

:p:

HAHA. Rocky 4.

That is my favourite movie in the Rocky series.

It was so over the top, and Drago was such a great villain.

No, you are playing home. You have better D, better coach and better goalie. You should win.

PS *knock on wood three times*

Just a few predictions here:

1. Russia will win.
2. The final score will be 4-2 for Russia.
3. This thread will have a bunch of whining, complaining, and squabbling when everything is said and done.
4. This thread will eventually end up being locked/closed when everything is said and done.
5. More than a few people will receive warnings/suspensions/bans as a result of this thread.

Anyways, those are my predictions. Let us have a good game, and may the best team win (hopefully Canada)!

I agree, the Canadians were underdogs coming into this tournament. Some people thought that they won't even get a medal. The Russians should win. If both teams play their best I can see Russia winning by 3 goals or more. One thing I just hope is that if the Russians go ahead my a lot of goals they don't taunt the bench or the fans because if they do it might get ugly.

My prediction is that Russia will probably win, then McGuire will definately cry.
