I don't like Sutter's grit-only strategy and we're not as inspired as we usually are. We tied the US and barely got by the Swiss so we don't have a much of chance against Russia. I hope that it will not be any worse than 4 – 1 for Russia.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but Canada and Russia (including Soviet Union, CIS) both have 11 gold medals.
No, but it's 12-11 actually, it's 15-11 if you count 1974-1976 unofficial WJCs where both countries were presented.

Canada has been severely underrated heading into the tournament and still is heading into this game. Biased as I am, I just don't see how Russia is a clear favourite in this game. I think you might as well flip a coin because it really can go either way.

Canada has the better goaltending, better defense and has proven to be the best team at 5 on 5 in this tournament. It also very difficult to think any team will outcoach Canada. Then factor in the home crowd and N.A. ice surface and any advantage Russia has on paper appears to be all but negated. And while Russia mailed home the second half of the ex. game, Canada certainly looked superior in the first half and I would suggest they are a better team than a Malkinless Russia squad.

Of course, Malkin is the x-factor. He is - by far - the best player in the tournament and can singlehandedly change the fortune of a game. If Canada can reasonably contain him (they wont totally stop him obviously), I'd give them the edge. The other big key is how many penalties there are. If it is a special team laden game, Russia has the distinct edge. If it is 5 on 5, I'd give Canada the nod.

My prediction: Canada 5 Russia 3. 5th goal an EN.

I don't understand how is everybody saying that Canada has a clear edge in goaltending. :dunno:

Statisticaly they both did similar (Khudobin even better). And also, according to many of you here, Canada has a much better defense. That tells me that Khudobin, playing behind weaker defense, has been doing superb.

I don't get it! Unless your statements are based on WHL stats...

Well, like you said, both have allowed 6 goals so how exactly is (Khudobin better)? You are right of course, I live in Saskatoon and I watch him play every game for the Blades and their defense makes the Norwegians look good so Khudobin IS used to playing with crappy defense. However, he also chokes and collapses under pressure. I think he is a superb goaltender as well don't get me wrong. Pogge could very well not do very well and since this is Khudobins second gold medal game he might have an edge but is he better? Nope not by a long shot.

Shaibuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu !!!!!! Rossijaaaaaa BperÖÖÖÖÖÖddd !!!!!

REBJATAAAAA MY S WAMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish the game would hurry up and start at 6:30 eastern like it is supposed to..... I really don't care about Justin Pogge's relationship with his mother, or where the two girls cheering for Kristopher Letang are from.
