You can't beat the refs at this level. Clutch and grab and dive - this is canadian style and the refs allowed them to play it. Worse team won in this ugly ugly game.

Man, Siberian, you are too funny. I can't seem to stop laughing at you're ridiculous posts!

You know Canada outplayed the Russians. Why not give the team credit where credit is due?

The Russians weren't angels out there, either.

Whine or no whine the flow of this tourney has been a tightly called game. This game on the other hand has been complete ****. This ref let everything fly from both teams. Just another example of ****** NA reffing. What happened to the IIHF no tolerance policy? This ref let this game get totally out of control at the begining and set the pace for ******** from both teams for the rest of the game. Both Canadian and Russian fans should be thankfull no one got hurt. There was great disipline on the Russian part at the end. Down 5 - 0 no more games left with a dirty game, i would have def dropped the gloves. Guess everyone is like Ryan Smith tho at the end of the CZE- Can gold medal game in Austria last year.

Great job by Poggie. Russia really dropped the ball. Thank God the olympics are in a month. Needless to say, i am crushed.

Now, now, if the Russians wanted it to end in a brawl they would've been owned there too. :D

Here is what Bob McKenzie said after the game was over:

"Russia had said before the game that if they play as a team then there is no way they can lose. Well guess what? They did lose".

A bit of post-game trash talking by Bob McKenzie. :handclap:

Yep! I'll take a group of Canadian boys singing O Canada any time in any key or keys they want

To be honest with you, I would take this type of game over the Canada - Norway penaltyfest 1000 times out of 1000.

I can live with that choice too...

Anyway... The leafs have 2 freakin' great prospects in the net! WOW!

About 12 months ago, Pogge was splitting time in Prince George, wondering if he was even good enough to be in the WHL. Gets traded to Calgary, gets told he is #1 no matter what, and his carreer just takes off.

The Hitmen were arguably the best team in the CHL because of Pogge, and Canada is definitely the best team in the world because of Pogge.

The Leafs must be smiling from ear to ear.

3 acts of class at the end of the game:

1. Sutter gives Latendresse a shift to end the game. Meaningless shift yes, but so was Rudy's.

2. Canadian fans cheer the three Russian favourites of the tournament and cheer even louder when Malkin is selected forward of the tournament. Really redeemed themselves after the US debacle.

3. Pierre McGuire for not saying a word for the last two minutes of the game.

Like I said, at this level the ref can decide the game. Timely calls, timely non-calls, the ref did everything smart changing the flow of the game. Great first period by Russia until the officiating took the wind out of the players. This was one bad Gold medal game.

Grow up. Sometimes an inspired team and a hot goalie can beat a superior time and in very rare cases they can route one.

I never in my life saw a Russian team get so rattled. The most blantant non call was the Russian goalie not getting an unsportsman like conduct penality when he launched stick 30' into the air.

Russia had no chance...that crowd was a continueous boost for Canada and a thorn at Russia's side. It was amazing how much the crowd effected this game, IMO, and I loved it. It wasn't a bad crowd either, they cheered for Malkin and Rask at the end of the game. They sounded bad during the game but they were only doing there job. ;)

Canada was great, one of the best team games I've seen. They all worked so hard and played like warriors in the defensive zone all game. Great going, guys!

Team Canada Rocked...woohoo!!! :handclap:

Agreed. Even if we lost 5-0, this game was infinitely superior to that embarrassment they tried to pass off as a hockey game.

right the russians would've dropped the gloves and been pounded there too..as canada went ratattatatat with their hockey bats on the ruskies skulls
:shakehead kidding - but even if siberian and his bizarre conspiracy theories were even remotely true canada would've still won 2-0 or 2-1

Even though this team didn't have the big names like last year, they were still a dominant team.

Sutter is one hell of a coach. He found the right players for his system and we win another gold medal!

Credit to Malkin for not sobbing like a girl and taking it like a man. It was difficult to see an awesome player like Lisin doing the dry heave cry beside the boards. The Russians deserve all of the credit in the world for playing a tough game and stacking up to the physical play.

It really is cool to see the Russian game evolving. Sure, they still dive a bit. That's the way it is though. It's a different game. Still. Over the years, their game has evolved from an all finesse game to an almost Canadian style. They hit, they take hits like the big boys and they give it until it's over.

I'm a big Malkin fan now though. He played a great game considering the score. Can't wait to see him over here next year.

I say that Steve Downie was the best player for Canada in that he personified exactly what got them the win: hard work, fighting every battle, and coming in as the underdog but leaving as the champ.

Canada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With Back-to-back Titles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Repeat Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what the hell are you talking about? the russian goalie never threw his stick in the air???
look closely it's Chipchura stealing it from the icy knoll and tossing it out there. watch it in slow motion.
:shakehead
look when you're a hockey power everyone hates you. we just gotta deal with it.
:handclap:
