So both cars are going 80km … the car in front decides to break abruptly, causing the car behind him to hit him.

Are you blaming the second car then?
No offense, but it might do you some good to get in a rear-end accident.

You are under the mistaken impression that if you are the second car in your scenario, that you aren't somehow going to get the ticket AND foot the insurance bill.

Nothing helps educate the uneducated like real world experience.

Did I? Last I checked the major was downgraded to a minor, and no league penalty is coming out of the play, and it’s more than likely because Carlo decided to stop abruptly and put himself in that position with Benn trailing right behind him.
With your comparison, yes. It was not good homie

I will say my comparison wasn’t the strongest because like the hit, it’s about perspective and situational based.

my comparison was based on experience/knowledge, but I also know of the 2nd car being at fault in other experiences. Again … poor comparison due to it being situational based.

I’ll take the L here.

It was a weird comparison to make, and low hanging fruit which is why a few guys jumped on it, myself included. We can differ on opinion with the hit itself. I have no problem with that. I respect your stance even if it’s not the way i saw it. Props to you for your handling of the situation

I'm going to echo @TD Charlie here. I pitch L's often and try my best to take them when they come -- I admire others who do the same.

I'm just glad that Carlo ended up ok. He's had some significant concussions and I was worried last night.

Outside of that -- congrats on the ass kicking last night. Not sure what is wrong with my B's (well, I actually have a list) but Woof!!!!

p.s. Can we have your draft/scout team please?

Twitter comments saying Carlo was "trying to reverse hit him" lmao?????????

People are braindead man.

This should be a multiple game suspension.
I just don't understand why anyone would use Twitter anymore except maybe to troll idiots and have a laugh

yea. 2 minute minor for that. Same as accidentally flipping the puck over the glass. Ha!

🤣
Not nice to laugh at Carlo, he can't help being dumb.

The first car can be at fault if it's proven they stopped for no reason. Dash cams pick this sort of thing up regularly.

Bad hit, but I don't like the "put the brakes on" in front of him play. He could have have picked up the puck and taken a hit as he turned, but he put on the brakes in a "Haha, you can't hit me" play. Did he think the separation was much closer and was going for a reverse bump? It makes no sense to do that. Still, recognize your positioning and don't push or hit somebody like that. 2 minutes and nothing more.

That’s the important thing in all of this for sure.

Also, only if you tell Lindholm to pick it up because I believed in him this year to put up career numbers … and well … he’s sucking (fantasy wise at least).

Parros would've offered Benn a phone hearing, but he wants to keep his line clear until he hears back from his doctor as it's been more than four hours.

The only reason we don't see hits like this 10x more often is because most players don't randomly shut off their survival instincts like this.

This is the hockey equivalent of a person getting rear ended because they slammed on their brakes to avoid hitting a squirrel. It's technically the person following who is at fault, but it should be recognized that it's hard to account for idiotic decisions made by others 100% of the time.

Carlo knew what he was doing and actually had ample time to brace for the contact with the boards. You're not convincing me that a shove from the red line to the boards with your chest taking the impact doesn't give you enough time to get your goddamn hands up to brace for the wall.

Stupid play by Carlo all around. Benn shouldn't have hit him but Carlo invited him to take the hit like a moron. 2 minute minor for boarding. Next.

Hockey is bumper cars

Youre allowed, dare I say, even encouraged to hit other cars and laugh and point and laugh

No clue what Carlo was thinking there, I doubt he does as well

C'est la vie

Jamie Benn doing Benn things.

Dman puts on the brakes to play the puck and Benn hits him right in the numbers sending him flying into the boards.

It's too bad Benn can hold his own in fights because he deserves several beatings for his dirty antics.

I think Benn is a dirty dbag but this wasn’t a dirty play. The Bruins dman tried to stop and set a pick/block his path and he got plowed.

Putting on the brakes to play the puck is not setting a pick. And doesn't mean you're eligible to be hit from behind.

The problem with your premise here is that stopping that abruptly, at that speed, in that location is not a common way to make this play. This result is precisely the reason why.

Most players are going to play this in such a way that any contact they do receive is much closer to the boards. When playing contact sports, it is generally assumed that other players are going to place a high enough priority on their own safety to minimize unnecessary risk.

You'll notice that almost nobody is suggesting this wasn't a penalty. They are suggesting that Carlo's choice of action was incredibly unorthodox and lacked a level of self preservation that is normally present in 99% of similar instances.

It is, without a doubt, a boarding penalty. But it's not egregious because Carlo's course of action here was so outside the bounds of expectation that it is unreasonable to expect a professional hockey player with a 1,000+ hours of muscle memory to account for it.
