There's no doubt that Chychrun should be on PP1, he always make the right play and has a cannon of a shot, Chabot need to play on the left side, right now I would put Sandy and Chychrun ahead of him on the depth chart.

I don't know who should get PP2 minutes between Chabot/Sanderson (maybe both if Pinto misses time to start the year, but that's for another thread) but Chychrun has to be on the top unit.

So Norris on PP2?

You can't have him and Chychrun in the same position. Unless you're putting Chychrun at the top of the umbrella.

I kind of liked him on the right.

Nice, great to hear. The amount of ice he covers defensively always blew me away. I'll have to catch some sens games to watch him.
Yea I had no idea he was this good, it’s criminal when great players go under appreciated because they’re in smaller markets.

Your boy Keller would be in talks as one of the best players in the game if you guys were given more respect.

Rooting for the coyotes to make the playoffs this year! Good luck!

Not sure why we are feeling the need to put Chabot down to compliment Chychrun.

Seems needlessly divisive and lame. They are both important parts of our pretty awesome top 4 (finally).

Each guy in the top 4 brings their own dynamic element that the other guys have but to a lesser degree, it’s pretty awesome.

The only way it could be better would be if Chabby or Chych were a natural RD, but those two will figure it out with reps, they’re too good not to.

Just to be 100%, I think Chabot deserves some heat. The defensive lapses that are coming from him are becoming common over the last calendar year and it's not acceptable. I also think he's dragging the top PP and either Sanderson or Chychrun are a much better fit on that top PP. I think people bring up Chabot when discussing Chychrun or Sanderson due to frustration on deployment choices because both have clearly passed Chabot and deserve more of his ice-time, but the coach up to this point has reluctantly kept utilizing Chabot as the #1. It's not deserved anymore (Although it sounds like that's changing starting tonight with Sanderson taking Chabot's spot on the #1 PP).

Chabot is a special talent still but there's been some regression taking place, and I'm still hopeful he can rebound and tighten his game up and is deployed as a #3 until that happens.

Oh for sure, he needs to be better, and he’s looked better so far. I imagine that he’s going to flourish not having to be the only quality defender on the team.

Less pressure, a little less ice time, and a defensive partner that is of the same calibre that he is should be awesome.

I like the two PP’s and it doesn’t really matter to me which one he’s on. He is one of the 10 guys who should be on the PP and both look like they should compete with each other for most dangerous on most nights.

Feels good.

Chychrun was definitely under appreciated due to the being on a south-west US small market pretty bad team, but his health probably keeps him out of some conversations he'd be in otherwise. So far in his career he's missed close to 20-25 games a year. His only "full" season was the first COVID year.
I think he'll take a bit of discount to make it work. 8 year x 7M.
He will probably either become the teams top paid defender or get what Sanderson got

We might need to give Giroux a performance bonus contract or something but a good GM with a dedicated and trusted capologist should be able to pull it off without a hitch

Just so good all around. Like Sanderson, knows where to be, knows how to disrupt plays and passes, knows when to slow the game down.

Honestly lucky to have him.

Amazing trade to bring in one of the young star players who not only wanted out of their current team, but specifically wanted to come to Ottawa.

It’s really pretty amazing that he was so cheap to acquire for what he is, and how badly we needed him.

Not sure if other teams were sleeping on him a bit when he was available for so long, but he’s has been really great for us and looks to be a strong part of our core going forward.

You know who could have benefited the most acquiring him (besides us) is the Leafs. Man, they should have made it happen any way possible,

I think we were lucky IIRC. We had the pick they coveted and we waited patiently and it happened, we've been quite "unlucky" in the past, so I'll take this one VERY happily.
